Upland Meadow Retreat

Very comfortable 2000 square foot ranch home - 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms on 2 acres is the perfect getaway for a quiet relaxing time in the country. Our house is a few minutes from Hotchkiss, Salisbury and Indian Mountain Schools - and is close to town. This is quintessential New England at its best. Enjoy a perfect country setting offering peace and quiet in a beautiful, natural environment. Easy drive from New York/Boston, close to Metro North Wassaic train station. The house is on a very quiet private road. Lots of privacy and a wonderful forest feeling. The frog pond is close to the house and a small bench is set close to the pond. There is a wonderful deck off the living room with table/chairs for dining in the warmer months and a gas grill. One of the bathrooms has a sky lit double shower and heated floor. Play the piano or listen to the extensive CD collection. Turntable and a small vinyl collection is available for our guests. There is an exercise bench/weights in the den. Guests can access the basement to dispose of trash. Otherwise, we ask guests not to enter the basement. I will be available as needed by text/phone. There is a local person who can help with any issues. I may be available to welcome you upon your arrival. The house is on a very quiet unpaved private road. An AWD vehicle is highly recommended during the winter months. You can hike on the back roads near the house. The lake is 5 minutes away. Millerton, NY rail trail is 10 minutes away. The Appalachian Trail runs through Salisbury and there are many access points (with parking) within minutes of the house. Great Barrington, MA (Berkshire ski area) is 30 minutes away and has great shopping, restaurants and theater. Great coffee houses and restaurants are within a 5-10 minute drive. Our local Salisbury grocery store - LaBonne's Market is a 5 minute drive from the house. A car is necessary. During periods of heavy snow, I strongly recommend having an AWD vehicle. The MetroNorth Wassaic train is a 25 minute drive from the house. If any additional guests are arriving by train, it is an easy and very pretty drive to Wassaic, NY Metro-North train station (Route 22). When I stay at the house, I often bring my 2 cats. If you are very allergic to cats, this might be an issue. The pond is very close to the house (not a swimming pond) - may not be suitable for children under 12 yrs of age. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. A continental breakfast will be available for your first morning, as well as some healthy snacks. Smoke-free environment.
