Log Home on the Uncompaghre River

Welcome to the Log Cabin Estate on the Uncompahgre River. Passing through the gates, up the cobbled the drive, we’re sure you’ll be struck that such an oasis exists minutes from the town of Montrose. Open the patio doors, step onto the deck and tune your eyes and ears to the Uncompahgre River meandering through the acreage. (Be sure to bring your fishing tackle!)* A stream also flows through the property, finally finding its way to a pond, replete with a paddle boat. Don’t mind the deer that live in the adjoining thicket — they love the apples from our tree as much as we do. On the main floor is the heart of the house, a gathering space which includes an open plan kitchen, living room, dining areas and a game table. Be sure to light the fire. Sit back and relax. Adjacent to the gathering area is the library with a queen size sleeper sofa and the ensuite master bedroom with a king size bed and a queen size sleeper sofa. Feel free to sleep with the French doors open. The steam shower in the master is great after a day of outdoor activities. The two bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has full-size bunk beds. The home is set up to comfortably sleep 12 people. Across a breezeway is an apartment above the garage. You will find a fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable living room which has a queen size pull-out couch. Off of the living room is a gorgeous deck with amazing views! The apartment also has one bedroom with a queen size bed, and a full bathroom with stand-up shower. The apartment is set up to sleep 4 people. This property also boasts a lovingly-restored sod house—be sure to note the live green roof! The one-room sod home has a small kitchen and full bath. The two full size beds are located at one end of the open space. The sod house sleeps four and is available to reserve in addition to the main house May through September, weather permitting. Laundry facilities are also provided in the main house. *Please note that we do have a fence with locking gates running adjacent to the river, however children must be supervised. This home is professionally cleaned, and the linens professionally laundered. Our cleaners are paid a living wage. *PLEASE NOTE: The sod house on the property is only available to rent from May 1st through September 30th. The house sleeps an additional 4 people. The total number of guests the house and the apartment above the garage sleeps WITHOUT the use of the sod house is 16. The nightly rate with the sod house included is $600 and the cleaning fee for both is $350.
