Sweet Mountain Guest Cottage - Mt. Hood OR

This is a beautiful, fully equipped guest cottage on an amazing property! It has a double bed in a bedroom, full bath, washer & dryer, kitchenette, a small living room area (with a fold-out sofa bed) & a spiral staircase to an additional sleeping loft. 1/2 hour to skiing in winter, Mt. Hood recreation. Property is great for families! This cottage sits on our 20-acre property at the base of Mt. Hood (about an hour east off downtown Portland - a great city to explore!). We are 30 minutes west of Ski Bowl and the Mt. Hood National Forrest. The cottage is approximately 300 square feet, with a small covered porch and fireplace. Private bedroom with full bed, living room with a wood spiral staircase up to a sleeping loft (spiral staircase is not appropriate for small children), a kitchenette with toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker and mini refrigerator. There also is a outdoor grill with side burner on the deck. A full bath with the added bonus of a washer/dryer. Great for after a day of travel or playing in the outdoors. Also on the property (and AirBnB) is our Magical Treehouse, if you are feeling adventurous! Our 20-acre property has trails all over winding through beautiful trees. There are springs on the property, several which feed our 1 acre pond. The pond has a small island, kayaks and a zip line for adventurous folks that want to jump in and add to their experience! The pond is great for swimming, is stocked with trout (feeding but no fishing), and is fun to paddle around in. There is a lovely garden (in the summer) and a row boat for a quiet afternoon. Outdoor activities (depending on weather) can include hiking around on the trails, disc golf, carpet-ball, horseshoes, a pendulum swing, and basketball. Additionally, there is a Magical Treehouse (also listed with AirBnB) on the property. That depends on the guests and their needs. We live in the main house, about 60 feet away, separated by the driveway. We will either be here to greet guests, or make arrangements for them to access the space and get oriented to the accommodations and property, and to provide information about the area if they are interested. We do love to entertain and meet new friends, so there have been times when we end up sharing conversation and eats on the wrap-around porch of the main house. We take our cue for interaction from our guests (and depending on what is on our calendars). We understand that many folks just want to get away and enjoy their privacy, which works well too. We are mid-way between Sandy and Welches on the flanks of Mt. Hood. We are six miles from town (Sandy), in a quiet setting. All neighbors have acreage properties. The area is very forested and beautiful, the cottage and private home sit on about two acres around the pond, and are out from under the trees, so there is plenty of light. There are many activities, so come ready to play or to rest... or both! You'll need to have a car. We are in the country! Six miles to town (10-15 minutes), 30 min. or more to Mt Hood attractions, and an hour to either PDX or downtown Portland. •PLEASE NOTE: We have two family dogs, easy going labradors. One Chocolate (about 85 pounds) one Yellow (about 70 pounds). The dogs are generally home and loose on the property. They are very friendly, love chasing balls and going on walks around the property on our trails. If you are not comfortable interacting with these dogs, this is not appropriate listing for you. Like most labs, they enjoy interacting with new people. They are fun to place fetch with, and they love to dive into the pond to retrieve balls!. They are super friendly (maybe sometimes too much so). We have no problem with you saying "no" to them or shooing them away. They are young (both under two) and are still learning socialization. If anyone in your group is uncomfortable with large dogs, this is NOT a good match for you. This is Woody and Jessie's home. If you like dogs, you will enjoy our furry friends! •If you wish to have more than the allotted 4 people; you can request our Glamping Tent (sleeps two) or our Pond Cottage (much like a Yurt - also sleeps two) or our Tentsile (it is tent suspended in the trees), or consider also also renting our Mt. Hood Magical Treehouse (also 4 person max). •Internet note: we are located in a fairly remote location, so don't expect internet connectivity. The only internet access you’ll likely have is your own cell phone (service is heavily dependent on carrier). We recommend not counting on it. -We are a working Small Woodlands Tree Farm. As such there is occasional tractor, chainsaw and milling going on in the woods. -We have chickens and ducks. You may be able to hear their quacking and crowing.
