This delightful cabin was built in the 1920’s and has a peaceful nostalgic ambiance; truly a taste of a bygone era! The cabin is within walking distance to the National Wild and Scenic Middle Fork of the Feather River, which winds through our 40 acres. Stellar views of the Feather River, along with Sierra sunsets and moonlit nights, can be seen from the private back deck and riverside bedroom, along with many wonderful places to view the mountain peaks, Feather River and the local wildlife throughout the property. Enjoy the private intermediate trail and access to the river. Located off of scenic Highway 70, the property is surrounded by U.S. Forest Service land and to add a nostalgic reminder of our industrial age in transition, the Western Pacific railway snakes along the river the length of the property. There are common areas for guests to enjoy, including sitting areas along the river trail with Adirondack chairs, hammocks and fire pits. With a nostalgic ambiance the accommodations offer a breath of fresh air in this busy world. Take a step back; this is the perfect place to unplug, unwind and commune with nature. Read, write, relax, rejuvenate. No WiFi, television, or clocks. Let nature have its way with you each day. Personal smart phone mobile hotspots can provide opportunity to communicate electronically if needed. We are 1 hour west from Reno (& the Reno National Airport), 50 miles North of Truckee, and about 2.5 hours from Sacramento. We have named this cabin "Eureka Peak" after one of the local peaks, and is one of a cluster of six cabins that were part of the old Penman Peak Lumber Company established in 1925, which was a small working lumber mill until the mid 1940’s. We offer 4 of our cabins as vacation rentals. These cabins are not your typical Graeagle golf course rental. All the cabins boast pure mountain well water, so no need to bring bottled water! The cabins and property are available for vacation getaways, and are perfect for family reunions, a unique workshop/retreat location as part of our Lost Sierra Retreat Center, and we will are able to host small weddings.* This is a pet friendly cabin, and like to limit to 2. Please advise us in advance that you are bringing your furry family members as guests. There is a flat rate pet fee of $40 for EACH pet. *Retreat/Workshops/Ceremonies: We have a 30' yurt, two 16' yurts, ceremony site, and common areas available for workshops, retreats and ceremonies. Folding chairs and tables are available for a fee. There are also additional cabins available adjacent to Eureka Peak cabin, Cabin No. 5 - "Mt. Elwell," which can sleep up to 8 guests, Cabin No. 4 – “Mt. Washington,” which sleeps 6 guests, and Cabin No. 6 - "Little Feather," which sleeps 2 guests (with a fold-out futon couch for 2 more if necessary). See VRBO listings #841214, #871103 and #575754 or talk to us for more information. The river may be accessed by driveable/walkable dirt road and there is also an "intermediate" trail from the cabin to the river. It is about a 5 minute walk.
