We pay above the living wage standards; 100% of your cleaning fee is paid to the cleaners (i.e. no profit to us) and we insist on a professional level of cleaning between guests. We love the High Desert for a lot of reasons - including the open spaces, lack of crowds, and dry weather that we believe make it a safe place to visit. The Space: With spacious floorplans and modern amenities, the two Shelter homes are perfectly suited for couples, friends, or families who crave privacy and the tranquility of the desert. The property is set on 5 acres of land, so you’ll enjoy that “away from it all feeling,” but the restaurants and shops of Joshua Tree Village are just minutes away by car. “Absolutely amazing house. Truly an indoor/outdoor experience that makes you feel like you are really connected to Joshua Tree.” -Recent Review -BEDS & BATHS- Both homes can comfortably sleep up to four guests in two bedrooms - and the property can sleep up to eight people in total. The master bedrooms have king-size beds and an en-suite bathrooms, while the second bedroom in each home has a queen-size bed and funky furnishings. All bedrooms have sliding doors that lead to the back patios. Each home also has two bathrooms. The master bathroom has dual sinks with wood accents and chrome features, plus a glass-enclosed walk-in rainfall shower and plenty of hotel-quality towels. Step through the door to enter the lovely private courtyard with an outdoor shower. The second bathroom, located across the hall from the second bedroom, includes a luxurious deep-soaking bathtub. Need to do some laundry? There’s a washer and dryer available for your use in each home. -KITCHEN & DINING- In both homes, natural elements meet modern technology in the kitchen, which features sleek stainless steel appliances and custom wood cabinetry. Appliances include a gas stove, oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher, and both a drip coffee maker and a French press are ready for your morning java ritual. The cabinets are stocked with dishes, cookware, and a blender. When it’s time to eat, dine in style at the table for four - or opt for a meal outside on the patio. -LIVING SPACE- Both homes’ kitchens open up to bright, airy living rooms with comfortable places to sit. After an invigorating hike (or a hearty meal at one of Joshua Tree’s delicious restaurants), you’ll want to kick back and relax in air conditioned comfort. Flip on the TV (DirecTV channels included), or just admire the spectacular views through the huge windows as your favorite tunes play through the bluetooth speaker. -OUTDOOR SPACE- Steps from the living rooms are private patios, surrounded by gorgeous Joshua trees, which are ideal places to relax. It’s up to you whether you’d prefer to soak up the rays in a lounge chair or sip a glass of California wine. When the sun goes down, nothing beats sitting around the stone fire pit with a view of the mountains in the distance. End the day with a soak in the Jacuzzi hot tub (or a refreshing dip in the cowboy tub!) overlooking the mountains in the sunset. When you’re in the mood for dinner with a view, just fire up the propane BBQ. Both homes have outdoor dining tables with seats for six. “This home is fantastic! It is just minutes from Joshua Tree Village with its quirky and eclectic High Desert vibe -- including a variety of food, drink, music and shopping options. Grocery stores and other shopping options are just 15 minutes away in Yucca Valley. Getting Around: Many roads in the high desert are dirt, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain. Other Things to Note: • EVENTS & COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOTS: Are not permitted without prior approval, applicable permit and additional fees. • DOGS: Dogs are welcome and there is a one time fee of $60. • SOCIAL MEDIA: If you plan on sharing your experience on social media, please mention us! • CELL SERVICE: Cell phone service availability and quality in the high desert varies by service provider. This is particularly true in the more remote areas of Joshua Tree, Pipes Canyon, and Pioneertown. Please be prepared by enabling wifi calling or downloading a VOIP program. • ROAD CONDITIONS: Many roads are dirt, so please take it slow.
