The Sea Captain's Home is a sprawling, well-preserved, 4-bedroom-plus Italianate Victorian, featuring large rooms, tall ceilings and striking detail, on a natural 3/4 acre property. The artistry and craft the house was created with in 1860 will will intrigue you and take you back in time, yet you will enjoy all the comforts of any modern home. Situated between Greenport and Orient, in the quiet hamlet of East Marion, this private, peaceful retreat is surrounded by farmland, with open fields behind, and wild coastline minutes away. Greenport is a five-minute drive, and any number of local beaches, from the quiet sandy bay beach a half mile away, to the the more dramatic sound beach at the end of Rocky Point Road, can easily be reached by bike. The Fork and Anchor gourmet market, Sep's farm stand, and the now-legendary lavender fields are all a short walk away. When you're not at the incredible beaches, vineyards and restaurants of the North Fork; when you've returned from fishing, hiking along the coast, shopping the fresh local produce and seafood, and treasure-hunting at antique shops, thrift stores and yard sales; spend some quality time with family and friends in the huge, beautifully furnished space on the first floor. Relax and stream programming on the 55" 4k smart TV with Netflix, cable, and Blu Ray DVD player. Play your music throughout the first floor on the Sonos wireless sound system. Enjoy meals together in the huge dining room at the custom-made walnut dining table, after cooking on the 6-burner Wolf restaurant stove with overhead salamander. Or enjoy smaller meals at the kitchen table, with views and sunshine on 3 sides. There are pedestal sinks and deep antique claw foot tubs for long soaks in the oversized bathrooms. The beds are all super comfortable with new linens, and all bedrooms are air-conditioned. Chill in the large backyard filled with shade trees, next to acres of open land for peace, privacy, and a great view.... especially at sunset. It stays quite cool in summer back there, perfect for reading in one of the six lounge chairs, or taking a snooze in the hammock. Barbecue with 2 Weber charcoal grills on the brick patio, and linger at the cedar table that seats 10 comfortably. The double outdoor shower has a cedar floor and is nestled in a lush private garden. We offer all of the comforts of a modern home, but with a little something rustic left from days gone by. Please note - WE DO NOT ALLOW ANY PARTIES OR GATHERINGS AT THE SEA CAPTAIN'S HOME. Any celebrations are to be enjoyed by our overnight guests only, without prior written approval by the owners. The booking guest is required to provide a photo ID with payment.
