Available Sept. 10. We would consider 1-12 month terms with discounts for longer terms. Rates vary by month ranging from $8,000 to $13,000 per month. Comfortable and relaxing, the house is a wonderful place to remove yourself from the world, unwind and reconnect any time of the year be it with your family, friends or a romantic weekend. Set on 16 acres, the house is an authentically restored family farmhouse that even includes all the lighting being handmade authentic reproductions (most are electrified) of those found at colonial villages of Williamsburg, Sturbridge and Deerfield. A gourmet eat-in kitchen adorned with finely crafted reproduction cabinets, a custom soapstone sink, disguised Subzero Refrigerator along with a Wolf stove and all the equipment to make fabulous meals while taking in the views over the fields to the rolling ridge in the distance. Relax in front of the fireplace in the library with one of the hundreds of volumes. In the living room, sink into the down filled couch and chairs that compliment a large fireplace while taking in the view over the fields and ridge through the almost full wall picture window (not exactly period but we kept it). The fireplaced master bedroom suite has amazing light with windows on three sides with great views over the fields and a 6 ft long clawfoot bath tub in front of a large window that offers the same. Another bathroom on the second floor has an antique earthenware bathtub that is also placed in front of a window allowing for a relaxing view of the 200 yr. old barn and out over the fields in addition to a steam shower that we attempted to hide. This is a restored colonial farmhouse; not a fancy weekend retreat staged by a NYC/Hamptons decorator attempting to create a Hamptons country feel. It is not a 'rental property', but it is an extremely comfortable country family home created by an owner with a long career at Ralph Lauren where classic creative authenticity is the mantra. We developed a restoration plan through visits to period homes and with the guidance of large collection of Colonial Home books. The project began with the replacement of every electrical wire and pluming pipe, to bathrooms and kitchen, and continues as we decorate with the antiques and artwork that we collect. The original fir floors on the first level and wide pine floors on the second and third levels are adorned by antique oriental rugs. The house evolved around our lives. Purchasing it when our kids were infants and with our enjoyment of entertaining adults, a young children's playroom is tucked in near the kitchen and dining room that has allowed for monitoring the younger generation. The children's space evolved to a 3 additional rooms in the finished basement (an additional 600 sqft not included in the 3200 sqft living space listed) that includes an arts & crafts room, game room with a combination Ping pong/air hockey/pool table and an entertainment room with large television and player piano. The house is situated within a group of large Sugar Maple and Shaggy Bark Hickory trees on 16 acres of which is cut into a large tract of land totaling a few hundred acres offering privacy. We have about 2-3 acres of lush lawn that includes about a flat 75' x 200' sports field with permanent soccer nets and a volleyball net. A horseshoe court and tetherball pole add to the outdoor sports. Hike through the field and into the woods on trails to the stream. A 20' x 26' bluestone patio with Adirondack chairs is a great place to view the sun setting over the ridge before lighting a roaring fire in the 6ft diameter fire pit encircled with 8 large sitting rocks completing a relaxing dinner on the large table. Hickory Heath is located just 3 miles from Tymor Park which is nearly 500 acres. It has various recreational facilities such as outdoor pools, tennis courts, playground, pavilions, sports fields, equestrian center, camping areas, a fishing pond, ice rinks in the winter, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and over 12 miles of hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails. Hickory Heath Farm has personality which our guests cherish. We use the house many weekends throughout the year and occasionally rent it out to guests. We will also consider a swap for a like property in the islands, Rockies or European ski resort. We would consider monthly and extended rentals. Rates and minimum stay options vary by season.
