It’s rustic, historic, open spaces (inside &out) is full of the beauty of nature to help you to relax, unwind & take a break from the busyness. This former farmhouse is nestled in the woodlands of the Hudson Valley and very private. The Main House (previous Farm house from 1800’s) is a cozy way to experience the rich history of the area. It is filled with a love story, pieces of American history, & thoughtful touches from your hosts. There is so much to take in as you walk through this 7,000+ sq ft, labyrinth of a home. The brick laid breezeway is not only gorgeously lit with natural light & views, it also allows you to walk from one side of the house to the other without actually having to go outside. If you enjoy being in nature, open spaces and also having a the comforts of home, plus the luxury of a private indoor pool than THIS is the place for you! Everyone will love all the different ways to enjoy their time here~like our outdoor bbqs (both propane & charcoal ) + outdoor fire pit +fireplaces, +wood stove, tipi ( yes it’s real) hammocks, tree swing, & hiking trails. It’s all a very easy commute from nyc . This is a perfect home for groups and multiple families as there is plenty of space and something for everyone to enjoy. *There are also plenty of open spaces in & around the home to enjoy & explore here at The Retreat House Hudson Valley. Surround yourself in nature & all the peace & beauty that it offers. Swim all year round, no matter what the weather, in our *indoor* pool! This unique space is an experience you’ll want to enjoy & share with those you love. *We love hosting and are more than happy to customize & prepare the space to best accommodate the diverse needs of each reservation. The whole house +option to add the yoga room & gift shop during your stay :) The Main house: w/ kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room, living room, den, 1/2 bath on 1st floor. 2nd floor bedrooms (4) and full bathroom note: The Master bedroom has its own private bathroom as well. The Entire Pool House! Pool House Includes: inground pool, kitchen, dining area, bathroom/shower, changing area with floats, plus large wood burning stove ( with firewood) & easy access to the fenced in backyard w/bbq, patio, firepit, tipi, tree swing, hammocks & more. The Community House: w/dorm style set up . A bedroom with 4 twin beds & the loft above with 6 twins, a living room w/Roku TV & the utility/laundry room, plus a full bathroom & it’s own backyard patio. Plenty of parking right infront (on the horseshoe driveway ~making loading & unloading super easy~ The trails to the meadow and brooke are marked and yours to explore. *Please see house rules before booking * There are no other guests when you book The Retreat House. The interaction with the Caretaker is limited to check in/out and/ or if you have any specific requests. Due to shear size/pool/ & accommodations required for large groups, the caretaker is happy to greet you at front door for a brief walkthrough/check in at the main house front door- please ONLY park there ( *the circular driveway*) in front of The Main House Front Door, and ring doorbell when you arrive. You+1 other member of your group will take a brief tour to make sure everything is as you expected (hopefully we exceed your expectations) and then the whole place is yours for the duration of your reservation. The caretakers are lovely & live near this property at the trail’s head. * NOT IN the rental home*. They take care & maintain this large estate ( over 123 acres) They (including their working dogs, are far enough away from the home that you are ensured privacy but yet they are close enough to help if you or your guests should need anything. Their home is clearly marked at the trail’s head and it’s location is clarified during check in. Their home & private driveway are NOT included in the reservation and are off limits to guests. **By confirming your reservation*: you have agreed to read, respect & adhere to our house rules.** Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, this quiet home is about a mile from the quaint village of Wurtsboro. The historic village of Wurtsboro, (founded by the Wurts Brothers, who manifested the famous D & H Canal) are dedicated to preserving its rich history, boutique shops, restaurants, and small town feel. This quaint village has history, charm & a down home feel. Plenty of restaurants (Vegan, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and American Steakhouse, Danny’s of Wurtsboro, our favorite, plus an icecream shop, wine shop, health food store, yoga studio, florist, deli, diner and NY’s largest crystal shop, farmer’s markets, Stewart’s, a small grocery store, pharmacy, Library, post office, gas & police station nearby +++++ Glider Plane rides & lessons available across the street at The Wurtsboro Airport( a fantastic way to see the breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley! ) We are also located a short distance from the D & H Canal & Linear Park with great rail trails and hikes. This quiet home is set with the beautiful backdrop of the Hudson Valley, wooded trails, rich history & natural beauty that is not to be understated. . . Taxi service available at limited times. Best to drive but do bring your mountain bike if you have. The nearby rail trail and Linear park paths, trails on the property are great to explore by bike or hike:) You can go from one side of the house to the other ( including the indoor pool house) without ever having to go outside with the brick laid breezeway. Lots of natural light & views of the outdoors makes it even more spacious. Lots of separate/private entrances & spaces. We love campers and our woodland property is full of great places to enjoy the outdoors. Just being surrounded by nature is enough for most. *we now have a new dishwasher, stand up freezer, large drip coffee maker +Keurig, French press, tea pots, with plenty of coffee mugs in the fully stocked kitchen~ now with plenty of large pots, pans, muffin tins, baking sheets, serving platters & more +disposables for the BBQ/Pool House kitchen:)
