Carbondale home in gorgeous country setting

Welcome to Portas Caeli, a cozy, one bedroom, one bath apartment made to make you feel at home. Sitting just outside of Carbondale City limits, our guests enjoy the relaxing country setting only 5.3 miles from SIU, near downtown Carbondale, and close to the So. IL Wine Trail. Giant City Park is less than 5 miles down the road with its many beautiful hiking trails. Walk through our 20 acres, relax and watch deer graze on the fields. Sit under the gazebo and read a book. Hosts live next door. One bedroom, one (tiny) bath apartment, with comfortable living space and kitchen built in a barn like building. Enjoy the peace and quiet of a safe and beautiful property, while being minutes from town. Owners on premises. My mother lives in a mobile home nearby, so there is usually someone you can talk to if you wish. Walk around the two ponds and watch for deer--or simply look out one of the windows and you will likely catch a glimpse of them. Drink a glass of wine or cup of coffee while sitting in our little "gazebo", surrounded by flowers and looking out toward the pond. Watch birds at the feeders, and squirrels and other woodland creatures scamper about. As you walk, you may end up accompanied by our German Shepherd. She loves to walk with people, and loves to play fetch. If dogs make you nervous, let me know and we can keep her indoors as much as possible. We now have internet! Your place is a separate building with its own private entrance. You will have complete access to the apartment and freedom to walk the property. (We ask that you respect the privacy of the other homes on the property, especially after dark.) The rest of the barn is used for private storage. You will have privacy and we try hard to not interfere with your visit. You will be surrounded by family. My mother lives next door, and we are in the main house. You are welcome to visit with us, and may see us taking walks. You may be visited by our German Shepherd or my mother's toy poodle. Both love people. Our home is in a very nice, quiet neighborhood, and sits on just over twenty acres. No public transportation available. Parking on premises. Note: The bathroom is small with no tub and is separate from bedroom. Everything is on one level. For lack of space, we were unable to install a dishwasher. Currently we have cable tv, but have been unable to get internet for this location. We do have a loaner iPad with data available UPON REQUEST. It gets excellent coverage and can be used as a hot spot for internet or mirroring movies on our smart tv. Our COVID PRECAUTIONS: We care about your health and safety and are following strict Covid cleaning guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, wearing mask and gloves while cleaning, as well as using Chlorox or other antibacterial cleaners to clean hard surfaces, spraying sofas and chairs with Lysol, and thoroughly washing all linen--including bedspreads and pillow shams between each visit. I also soak repeat use items (kitchen sponge) in bleach water, and replace it frequently.
