Half hour drive to the Pacific coastal beaches, the sights of San Francisco, and the heart of Silicon Valley. Within 2 hours drive to Napa wine country, Monterey/Carmel. The train tracks and train station are a few blocks away within walking distance. We do occasionally hear the conductor blow the train's horn, as they are required to sound it if they sense a problem on the tracks. But honestly, we work at home and the neighborhood is so quiet that mostly you hear the birds chirping or neighborhood kids playing before you notice the train horn. When our son first heard the train's horn, he said it reminded him of the fog horns in San Francisco, which he loves. The train tracks extend from San Francisco through the whole Peninsula. One advantage of course is you can take the train to SF or through the Peninsula and avoid driving.
