Summary: A beautiful, quiet spot, next to a long winding stream. This site has been moved and totally renovated. Look behind you and there is a 90 foot cliff (and usually waterfall depending on mother nature's whims). There is an amazing ecosystem in your backyard that includes forest, marshland, and lush greenery. Scramble up to the top of our 90 ft waterfall to discover five smaller falls to wade and relax in. Under 2 hours from NYC, literally down the street from the Monhonk Mountain House. Enjoy fantastic fly fishing in the Rondout Creek, 75 miles of hiking trails in the Mohonk Preserve, some of the best road biking in the east. Great mix of flats and killer climbs. Access to the Wallkill Rail trail is less than 2 miles away. You can ride to either Kingston or New Paltz (over the Rosendale Trestle) entirely on the rail trail. Also terrific local swimming in downtown High Falls. Have brunch on Main Street in Rosendale or a take a 30 minute drive to Woodstock, 10 min to Stone Ridge with some of the most beautiful stone houses in America, 10 min to New Paltz (very hip and laid back), 15 min to Kingston (with incredible waterfront dining). There is SO much to do in this area! The hiking trails, nature and views are spectacular. Your site is perched 20 feet above Coxingkill creek. We have dammed the reservoir at the bottom of the falls and it is about 4-5 ft deep. Great for a cooling dip on a hot summer afternoon. The rock cliff ices up in winter providing a great opportunity for ice climbing. The wall is yours when you book the site. All that we require is signing a liabiltiy waver before you climb. There is a woodstove in the tent and a supply of firewood will always be left at the site. If this site is booked, please check out our sister site, just a hundred yards away. It is equally spectacular and sits on a raised platform that over looks the creek and has a great view of the cliffs. There is nice canoeing/kayaking on the Wallkill. There are several access points within a couple of miles of the site. We just moved the site for those of you who have booked with us before. The new Mini Yosemite is much more remote and quiet. This site always books in advance of our sister site, Reservoir Retreat. If this site is booked, check out Reservoir retreat. It is about 100 yards away and is just as spectacular. Also, you can drive right up to Reservoir Retreat. Mini Yosemite is about a 2 minute walk from the parking area. Both sites are far enough from the road that you will not be disturbed by any unnatural noises. Food wise, we recommend a simple and delicious solution. Foil meals. Try this site for some inspiration. https://www.unexpectedlydomestic.com/foil-pack-dinners/ one hint, bring a food thermometer as it is hard to tell when your meal is done. The Space: Beautiful, private 27 acre Catskills campsite with a 90 ft rock wall and hidden waterfalls that feels like a mini-Yosemite! Sister site to our Reservoir retreat, great for groups. Guest Access: This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with farmers, ranchers, and other property owners to offer unique outdoor accommodations on beautiful private land. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature! You'll have the entire campsite to yourself, as you'll be the only Campers enjoying this piece of paradise. Each campsite includes a 10'x12' safari-style canvas tent on a raised platform, and you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed inside (each site is different, see photos for the exact setup). Larger groups can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided (you’re welcome to bring your own camping gear too). You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs, and a heating source to keep you warm and toasty at night. What you should bring: -S'mores supplies & any food you'd like to eat -A cooler to keep your grub from spoiling -Bedding and pillows -Lanterns and lighting -Firewood for the campfire -Water Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property. If a CampKeeper submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the CampKeeper’s property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set! Occupancy: Max occupancy refers to the total number of campers allowed at the site during your reservation. We welcome campers with larger parties, but you may need to bring extra camping gear of your own in addition to the tent that is already provided. Please plan accordingly. Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. Line the bucket with a CleanWaste bag supplied at the camp (or another appropriate plastic bag) prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. We got this idea from bathrooms used on NASA spaceships, and we've used the Tentrr Loo countless times ourselves- don't worry! Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days. Other Things to Note: Please do feel free to walk the property, wade in the stream, do yoga at the top of the waterfall. It's 27 acres of outdoor bliss. We now provide a "share box" near the site that will have any amenities that you might have forgotten. Feel free to used what you need from the box and leave in the box anything of use that you might not want to take back home. We now allow climbing on our waterfall (known to climbers as Bairds Wall) as well as some great bouldering near the falls. Just let us know ahead of time that you will be climbing and sign a liability waiver before you head out. Be aware there are bears (extremely rare) and many other kinds of wildlife that roam the property, so please make sure to keep food and waste in your car. There are deer, beavers, rabbits, turkeys, turtles, eagles and more. We do not allow hunting. We just improved the road so that it is drivable to the waterfall under nearly all conditions. Please ensure to do regular tick checks! We'll leave you a 5-gallon jug of water, some firewood and solar lights for your visit. We also provide a few other essentials like bug repellent, lighter, some cooking utensils, toilet paper etc. We also provide a share box so you might find some important detail that you forgot to bring and you mighe leave some essential for the next guest. Please do bring your trash with you on the way out and leave the land as it was when you arrived. Please be very careful about fires and smoking. If you take is dip in the reservoir or Coxingkill Creek, please do not introduce any soap or shampoo out of respect for Mother Nature and all her amazing creatures. Interaction with Guests: In the age of social distancing, isolated time can still be quality time - especially when you’re unplugged and out in nature - and we want you to know that the Tentrr team and our hosts are working together to make sure you have a safe and relaxing experience. Our hosts have been doing a great job ensuring our campsites are clean and spotless for your arrival. We ask that you do your part as well - maintain social distancing, clean up after yourselves, and leave no trace - so that everyone in our camping communities can enjoy these cherished outdoor spaces. To limit the potential impact of community spread during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are encouraging our campers and hosts to adopt self-check in procedures whenever possible. To make self check-in easy, Tentrr provides a map to your site and driving directions in an email sent out a few days before your reservation. Please refer to this guide to get to your campsite. As a reminder, it is good practice to give your host a head's up on your estimated arrival time a few days beforehand. If you need any assistance, you can reach out to your host through the contact information provided in your confirmation email.
