Seaworthy is a 1929 fisherman's cottage located in New Harbor, Maine. Seaworthy is newly renovated providing modern conveniences and original Maine craftsmanship. Renovation includes a spacious deck where you can watch the boats come in. The first floor bedroom has a full size bed and adjoining full bath. The large 400 square foot primary bedroom has a queen size bed, seating area, and lovely harbor views. The third bedroom has a full size bed and great harbor views. Seaworthy has two full bathrooms one on each level, a living room, laundry room, and an eat in full kitchen. Every room has gleaming wood floors. We offer a newly renovated home that is beautiful, comfortable, full of art, antiques, and all things Maine. Please note: The stairs to the second floor are quite steep and may not be suitable for some guests. Seaworthy is situated on a hill overlooking the harbor in New Harbor Maine-one of Maine's most picturesque working harbors. You’ll watch the sun rise and set, the lobster boats come and go, and the ever changing tides. The lobster wharf where boats come and go bringing in their lobster catch is across the street. The freshest most delicious seafood is available at the wharf. Seagulls circle the harbor and seals are often spotted in the harbor. You can sit and watch the activity from the deck or the many windows in the house. Seaworthy's roots come from a working fishing family and is a perfect home to visit if you love the ocean and Maine coast. Seaworthy is an all season home so you can enjoy the fall and winter months as well as the spring and summer seasons. C.E. Riley and Son Grocer is located within a mile of the home and is open all year. They have a wonderful deli and bakery at the store. There are many things to do in each season. The sights just outside Seaworthy are spectacular. You may explore the beautiful rocky Maine coast or just sit and enjoy the ebb and flow of the ocean surf all within walking distance. Rachel Carson Preserve is a quarter mile from the home; Pemaquid Beach and Maine's most photographed lighthouse just 3 miles away. The ferry to Monhegan island is located at the lobster wharf across the street, just steps from the house. During summer months thru fall you can take the 12 mile ride to Monhegan island for a day trip or take seal and Puffin tours. October is spectacular for the amazing leaf colors splashed across the region. The home is an hour and fifteen minutes north of Portland and 2.5 hours north of Boston and Manchester which makes a flight in very easy. The coastal route to Seaworthy wanders thru and near many beautiful towns such as Wells, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Portland, Freeport, Brunswick, Bath, Wiscasset, and Damariscotta. There are many opportunities for day trips north and south of the house. There are many antique shops and art galleries for every taste. These are some of our favorite things to do and we hope you’ll have a chance to find your own too! *Wade at the Rachel Carson Salt Pond on the ocean at low tide just down the road from the house. *Take the most beautiful walk or run down the road, along the open ocean shore to Long Cove and back. *Sit on the deck and watch the lobster boats come and go. Walk across the road to the wharf and watch the fishermen unload their lobster catch of the day. *Take a Hardy Boat cruise to Monhegan Island or go see the Puffins and seals. *Have a picnic and climb on the rocks at the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. If you are lucky you can go up into this beautiful lighthouse. The art gallery on the lighthouse grounds features work by local Maine artists. *Get to Rileys Grocery in New Harbor at 8:00 AM and get the best cinnamon roll ever. I recommend the Turkey, Bacon, Ranch sandwich for lunch. *Check out Colonial Pemaquid museum and Fort William Henry. *Visit the local Farmers market for fresh local produce. *Visit Popham Beach outside Bath and enjoy this gorgeous expansive beach. *In August, visit the Maine Antiques Festival, Maine's largest. *Buy your fresh lobster across the street at Shaws wharf for dinner. *Build a sand castle and swim at Pemaquid Beach.   *Kayak rental is available. Kayak around New Harbor, Back Cove or up to Chamberlain. *Enjoy a day shopping in Damariscotta, Reny's is where locals shop. *Have a homemade breakfast at The Cupboard *Spend the day antiquing and visiting the numerous local art galleries. *Experience Maine’s nautical history at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. *Play golf at Wawenock Golf Course or the Boothbay Country Club. *View paintings from the Wyeth family and special exhibits at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland. *Visit Wiscasset and its many shops. Have lunch at Reds-a traffic stopper and have dessert at Treats. *Sail on a sailboat in the Camden Harbor or Rockland Harbor. *In October enjoy The Pumpkin Fest in Damariscotta. *Eat lobster on the docks at Shaws Wharf or the Pemaquid Harbor Co-op.
