The Baja Beach Lodge is a 5 bedroom 4 bathroom large hacienda sits directly on the HUGE WHITE SANDY BEACHFRONT in La Salina Baja Mexico, halfway between Rosarito Beach and Ensenada: safe, secure, private, w/ 15 beds, can accommodate large groups! Feel free to inquire. The Beach Lodge is located immediately off the Tijuana/Ensenada toll road @ KM 73, in the coastal community of La Salina Del Mar, next to Puerto La Salina. The Lodge has been professionally managed as a vacation destination since 2004, having served hundreds of guests over the years. It has also hosted large functions such as golf tournaments, ultralight fly-ins, whale watching tours, Baja race teams; weddings, birthday bashes, bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc. It also serves groups of 8 or less. The spacious 4000 s.ft “hacienda style” 5 BR 4 bath complex sits right on the white sand of La Salina Beach. The Lodge is a little “rustic” given is vintage, but clean, comfortable, and well designed for larger functions. All guestrooms were rehabbed in 2014/15. The Lodge features a gigantic beachfront porch sits @ 40 feet above the sand allowing for breathtaking unobstructed ocean/beach views 24/7/365. This elevated plateau features plenty of lounging/seating area providing hours of relaxing views of ocean breakers; or to observe leaping pods of dolphins, seals, seabirds, and during 6 mos of the year, the semi-annual migration of the whales. The porch also features a regulation size shuffleboard court; giant brick fire-pit with seating for 10; 3 charcoal BBQ s; chaise lounges, chairs, picnic tables and hummingbird feeders that oftentimes fill the air with dozens of “hummers” during sunset feeding time! At the end of the porch is a manicured stone staircase 20 steps down to the beach. Approximately 10 steps down is a 2000 s.ft. Astro-turf terrace for extra recreational fun (badminton, croquet, volleyball, soccer,) or just another common area for socializing. It also serves as a Landing Zone (LZ) for paragliders who oftentimes visit the venue to fly the international renown La Salina Flying ridge ½ mile east of the Lodge. Guest can also arrange to have local horsemen bring horses up to the terrace and ride a mount out to the ocean and down the 2 mile long beach! During the evenings or inclement weather guests may choose to relax in the large beachfront 1000 s.ft. Grand-room immediately behind the porch. The GR features a large seating area, with 4 massive beach view windows looking across the large beachfront porch. The GR has a large wood fireplace, and professionally installed AV center featuring 60 inch HDTV w/ satellite service; large sound system that plays both inside and outside. WIFI is easily accessed throughout the complex. Unlike other local rentals, 10+ guests can comfortably lounge in the GR and watch the ocean break on the sandy coastline, or watch whales, dolphins, seals and seabirds frolic in the sea! Or enjoy the AV entertainment center. Combined with the GR space is the large kitchen features a large fridge for guest usage; 2 microwaves, convection oven, stove, coffee maker, blender etc. When The Lodge is NOT booked exclusively as a private vacation rental, it is operated as a Bed and Breakfast (the Baja Beachfront Bed and Breakfast). Accordingly the 5 guest bedrooms are individually themed: the Moondoggie Master (Gidget/ and Moondoggie theme from 1950's surfer classic film); The “Flipper Flat” dolphin/whale and ocean themed room; The Surfer Sweeeet, featuring Baja surfer scenes and decor; Pilots Peek themed in paragliding, hang-gliding and ultralight regalia; and Frenchy's Quarters named after the original owner featuring a bunkhouse in mid-evil theme. The first three guest rooms feature adjoining private bathrooms, and there is a common bathroom for the latter two. Why stay in a cookie-cutter pastey white gringo style condo, crammed into a complex of others who can monitor your activities, or ruin your vacation with their wants/needs? The LODGE is far more private, spacious, and fun! As explained before the house is “hacienda style” meaning most of the guestrooms privately enter from the common courtyard located in the center of the complex. The courtyard is semi-enclosed with an atrium with a regulation slate-bed pool table for guest use and enjoyment. There is a small spiral staircase leading to the roof of the atrium which is another common area for watching the ocean or hanging a bit away from the rest of the crowd. Lodge guest obviously will enjoy La Salina Beach. La Salina beach is probably the largest, white sandy beach between Rosarito and Ensenada. Its generally a peaceful beach unlike the “resort” areas of TJ, Rosarito, La Mision or Ensenada. Many times there is no one on the beach, except of course during holidays and summer break. But even then its not the crazy, crowded drunken beach scenarios so familiar in Southern CA, and other Baja venues. The ocean has several jetties just south of the Lodge, enjoyed by surfers, boogie boarders, kite boarders and body surfers. It is important to note, however, that there are strong rip currents that can be dangerous. There are no lifeguards on the beach, so children and beginner swimmers should not venture in above their knees without flotation devices. Because the property is oftentimes ran as a Bed and Breakfast, certain closets, cabinets and even a fridge are locked off and unavailable. They are generally marked accordingly. BajaBrent is generally in the neighborhood for most guest arrivals/departures. Since he lives in La Salina fulltime, he can help guest check-in, orient, and advise about the premises and the general area. However, he doesn't hang around guests unless invited to do so, and even then he may be too busy. He is also the concessionaire for ultralight flying activities at the La Salina flying ridge on behalf of the Ejido La Mision. If you've ever dreamt of flying, he might be able to hook you up! Having lived in the area for 20 years, Brent is a great wealth of information about where to shop, dine, party, fly, fish, surf, kayak, hike, rock-climb, karaoke, or he even can escort you to Valle Guadalupe, Mexico's largest wine country, 45 minutes inland, considered the world's "next Napa"! The B4 is located in the beachfront community of La Salina Del Mar, KM 73 off the TJ/Ensenada toll road. It is a gated, secured, and guarded community 24/7; but the guards are friendly chaps. The community is likewise friendly gringo-retirees with a few of our Mexican friends who reside and work here too. 100 yards up the street is the La Salina Cantina, that features great Mexican-gringo food in a casual atmosphere with great happy hours; karaoke and live music in the weekends, all with a large beachfront patio and deck! Four miles north of the B4 is a larger resort area featuring many restaurants, bars, discos...places like the world renown La Fonda! Public cabs are available, busses if you know what you are doing; and all this can be arranged! For larger groups I have a 8 passenger hi-top van that I will chauffeur around for the right circumstances. It is like a limo---called either "The Enterprise" or the "pimp-mobile". Very comfortable for a wine country cruise/tour. Baja has taken a media bashing by the USA beginning in 2007. Tourism fell through the floor for several years after. It was unjust. A lot of criticism focused on a few unfortunate incidents as well as the drug war. However, the danger to tourist was almost zero! The vast portion of Baja is completely safe, and has never been dangerous to tourist. You will find La Salina, a safe, secure, and enjoyable venue to enjoy your vacation! Additionally, I generally will NOT book a Saturday checkin/out. I have far too many guests who wish to book weekends, and by allowing the same, forecloses the opportunity to book a weekend warrior. During spring break, summer and whenever a holiday falls on a weekday before/after the weekend, I require a minimum 3 night booking. JULY 4TH week (before and/or after) WILL REQUIRE A MINIMUM 5 NIGHT BOOKING! I will decline anything less. Children under 2 are generally free, but pls disclose them anyway. If over 2 they count as "guests" for fee calculation. In some cases this may be negotiable, feel free to ask. I also list elsewhere, and although I update calendar here, there is a chance that another booking hasn't made it to the Air BnB calendar, but I do my best, to update daily.
