Folk Cottage with Carriage House near Rhinebeck

Located in the tranquil Staatsburg-Rhinebeck area, our home is accessible from the city (1.5 hrs to NYC: Grand Central Terminal or Penn Station), yet is located in pure idyllic countryside. The grounds consist of a cottage (1930s), a carriage house (1880s), and a former smokehouse. You're minutes away from the Hudson River waterfront and picture-perfect towns like Rhinebeck, Tivoli, etc. The Catskills and the Berkshires are easy day trips! Our home was built in the 1930's, and is set on a quiet road. The kitchen features a vintage farmhouse sink, marble counter top and modern appliances to prepare a feast. You will dine in the keeping room, featuring a rustic wood-burning heating stove. The living area is a sun room, perfect for reading and lounging. Throughout the space, we've sought to blend period-relevant furnishings with contemporary designs. The grounds feature mature trees, charming stone walls, and a fire pit area for relaxing with a drink after work. You will have full access to the main house, and the grounds. Unfortunately, the carriage house is currently not equipped to host guests. We will (try) to greet you for your stay, and remain open by phone or text to answer any questions or provide any recommendations! Our location in Staatsburg allows you to effortlessly enjoy the Hudson Valley lifestyle in its fullest. The Hudson River waterfront is easily accessible at Mills Norrie State Park (5 min), with trails meandering through beautiful nature and culminating to a historic Gilded Age mansion along with boat and kayak launches. It's the perfect setting for morning hikes, picnics, and sunset drinks. This region is a foodie's paradise. Nearby towns like Rhinebeck, Kingston, and Pine Plains host gourmet yet cozy, restaurants. There are also many breweries, distilleries, and wineries nearby. If you feel like spending a night in, there are also many farm stores and farmer's markets to source local produce. Outdoor activities abound. Spectacular hiking in the Catskills, Shawnagunk Ridge, are a short drive away (1 hr). For those into fishing or rowing, Tivoli Bays are in easy access (20 min). In the winter, several ski areas are accessible within a 1 hr drive (Catskills and Berkshires). Our home is near both the Poughkeepside Metro North and Rhinecliff Amtrak Stations (15 mins). From either of these stations, New York City is only 1.5 hrs away. The train ride itself is incredibly scenic. A car is best navigate the region. For those choosing to arrive by train, there are car rental options in Poughkeepsie. If booking with Enterprise Rent-a-Car, it is possible to arrange a pick-up with them if scheduled ahead of time. If driving in from NYC, it takes less than 2 hrs when coming north on the Taconic State Parkway.
