Built in 1875, our beautifully decorated home is located next to the historic Tides Inn Resort and is a few steps from the charming Town of Irvington. As you enter the property, the sound of crushed stone in the driveway will instantly transport you from the hustle-and-bustle to river time. Upon walking in the front door, you're welcomed in the open kitchen and main living room. The kitchen has a refrigerator, beverage refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher and washer and dryer. We love to cook, so the cutlery and pots and pans are top notch. The cozy first floor bedroom and private full bath are easily accessible and overlook the huge backyard. Walk through the living room into the family room where you can park it in the plush couch or lounge chair and stream Netflix/Amazon or other content. Under the TV, you'll find our collection of popular board games including Catan, Monopoly, Stratego, Yahtzee, Uno, Backgammon and more. If you need some solo chill time, grab your book or headphones and retire to the cozy enclosed porch, which is also used as a bedroom. Curl up on the daybed and enjoy the magical light glistening through the bamboo shades. Just off the family room, the nostalgic staircase winds upstairs to the private bedroom that will make you feel like you're climbing into a captain's quarters. The tranquil bedroom features a super comfortable Casper queen bed, half bath and reading nook with TV and daybed. When it's time to soak up some outdoor time, just pop out the back door off the kitchen. Relax with a cocktail on the deck, cook some steaks or fish on our Weber gas grill or lay down some newspaper and crack some local crabs or the region's famous oysters. If you're feeling like teaching someone who's boss, check out the game shed where you'll find bocce, cornhole, wiffle ball, spike ball, washers, croquet and more. When the games are over, grab a trusted partner in crime, hop on the vintage Schwinn bikes and head off for a sunset glass of wine at the Tides Inn or at one of the many amazing restaurants in town. With so many fantastic attractions and boutiques minutes away including the new Complex Entertainment Center, The Dog and Oyster Vineyard, famous Farmers Market or Steamboat Era Museum, you'll never run out of places to explore, shop or indulge. Perhaps the most replenishing, time-stopping moments can be found on Carter's Creek or the nearby preserves - Hughlett Point and Hickory Hallow. Whether you like to sail, kayak, paddleboard or fish, opportunities to refresh your perspective are limitless. Our travel-sized welcome guide has all the information you'll need. If golf is your bag, the Golden Eagle Golf Course and The Piankatank River Golf Club are also just minutes away. Guests will have access to the entire house and large, very private property. We live in Richmond, but always available through text, phone and email. Please keep in mind that you are staying in a house and not a hotel. So, if a problem arises, we will act as quickly as possible, but there is no repair/maintenance/cleaning crew available 24/7. Irvington is the historic gem of the Northern Neck. The town is nestled along Carter's Creek where you'll find osprey, eagles and herons and a variety of boats carving their path. The Tides Inn, which is within a 100 yards of our property, anchors the town and has recently completed a multimillion dollar renovation. Dining, spa treatments and drinks on the hill are all available to our guests. For a day rate of $75 per adult, you can have access to kayaks, paddleboards and a swim in the pool. Children under 16 are $50 a day. The town’s award-winning Farmers Market is in the center of town a short walk away, surrounded by nearby restaurants offering fresh fish, Rappahannock River and White Stone oysters and famous Chesapeake Bay blue crabs. Learn the crucial role steamboats played in the town's development by touring the Steamboat Era Museum, conveniently located next to the town’s Commons. Check out concerts, play tennis or just relax on romantic park benches. Walk or bike Irvington’s residential area of architecturally diverse homes, many of which are entered in the Virginia and National Register of Historic Places. Splurge a little at our numerous, unique boutique shops, galleries and antique stores. You can also take a free trolley ride (May – September) to nearby Kilmarnock and White Stone. For a little action, visit the newly opened Compass Entertainment Complex that features a six-screen movie theater, an arcade, go karts, climbing walls, a zipline, a high-ropes course, virtual reality games, a restaurant and bar and an obstacle course maze resembling that of American Ninja Warrior. Outdoors there’s miniature golf, go-karts and batting cages. Keep your car in the driveway. Our property is perfectly nestled next to the Tides Inn and minutes from town. You can walk or ride bikes everywhere your curiosity takes you. Soft towels, antibacterial soap, shampoo and conditioner, iron, blow dryer and other products can be found in all bathrooms. Disposable gloves, disinfectant sprays (or wipes when available) and common cleaning supplies provided. We have also recently purchased a state-of-the-art Molekule air purifier that destroys the widest range of pollutants including viruses and VOCs. Dogs are considered on a case-by-case basis.
