Vetehuset - Plantera + Skorda (Swedish for "the Wheat House: Plant and Harvest") overlooks downtown Lindsborg's Main Street. This property embraces Plantera and Skorda, on the second floor of the historic Berquist & Nelson Drugstore Building, with high-quality comfortable furnishings and a sense of peace. Take the private elevator from the alley-side carport and step out into the vestibule with a bar-height table and two chairs. Walk right into the Vetehuset-Skorda and discover a welcoming living and sleeping area with a fully equipped kitchen and dining table for four. A sumptuous bathroom just off the sleeping area offers a large, barrier-free shower and separate tub. Walk past the onsite laundry into Vetehuset - Plantera, with a similar living and sleeping area and another fully equipped kitchen and dining table for four. Its bathroom offers a large, tiled barrier-free shower. Descend the staircase to enjoy the shops and restaurants along downtown Lindsborg's Main Street. Located on the second floor of the Berquist & Nelson Drugstore building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, you’ll reach Vetehuset-Plantera+Skorda (Swedish for “the Wheat House-Plant and Harvest”) by taking the private elevator from the carport to the second floor. It is housed inside a structure mimicking a grain elevator, hence the name of the apartment. A lovely vestibule is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee as you check your email or plan your day. Guests enter either apartment into a welcoming living room. Both feature a cozy sofa and two chairs forming a lovely conversation area, while convenient coffee and end tables make it simple to enjoy a beverage or snack. You’ll love the unusual artwork created by a local artist. Once settled in, you’ll want to break out the novel you’ve been planning to read. Or you’ll decide instead to stream your favorite show or a movie on the Smart TV, one in each studio apartment, with Hulu+Live TV with no ads using our Gigabyte high-speed internet. You’ll slumber in comfort and style in a king-size bed with a Casper mattress. In both apartments, the sleeping area is set apart from the living area, which creates a nice sense of separation and privacy not commonly found. A closet is nearby each bed. Guests will discover not one but two fully-equipped kitchens with full size stainless steel appliances and a quiet dishwasher at Vetehuset-Plantera+Skorda. With plenty of cabinets and counter space, it’s an easy task to whip up your favorite meals, even a midnight snack. A dining table for four is adjacent to the kitchen in both apartments and offers a comfortable, relaxed dining experience for guests. In the bathroom, you’ll find a door between the bathroom sink and the barrier-free walk-in shower and commode. The bathroom at Vetehuset-Skorda includes a separate bathtub. The spacious laundry room features a front-loading washer and dryer, even a drying rack. Sustainability is literally built into Vetehuset-Plantera+Skorda. The entire studio apartment is insulated for temperature and noise with insulation from recycled blue jeans. The interior is heated and cooled with high-efficiency electric heat pumps, often called minisplits. Appliances are Energy Star certified and plumbing fixtures offer low-flow efficiency. The recycling bin is found in the laundry room. Prior to arrival you will receive a link to an important YouTube video about the features of Vetehuset - Plantera + Skorda. This includes important safety information including the fire extinguisher, first aid kit and tornado shelter. You will receive a four-digit code that will unlock the elevator entry door, the door to the hall and the doors to each apartment. Be sure to lock your door each time you leave the apartment. Guests communicate with our local property manager by phone or text. The property manager can meet the guests for a tour of the property. If guests are arriving very late in the day, we can provide an orientation video. Lindsborg, Kansas is an artist community that embraces its unique spin on all things Swedish. Guests visit Lindsborg for its festivals, shopping along Main Street and art museums, including the Sandzen Gallery (America's Van Gogh). Coronado Heights (a "castle" built by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression) is a popular destination for picnics and to soak in the view of farmlands and prairie. Larger cities of Salina and McPherson are a short drive away. Another destination is the Cosmosphere, the largest collection of Russian and American space memorabilia outside of the Smithsonian - including the Apollo 13 capsule Odyssey. Guests must drive to this destination. Lindsborg is located about 4 miles west of I-135. The closest airport is Salina Municipal Airport (SLN), approximately 20 miles away. The Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita (ICT) is approximately 80 miles away. Guests are asked to scrupulously supervise children especially near the elevator. Guests must be 25 or older. No parties. No pets and no smoking.
