A Work of "Art"
A Work of "Art's" cabin features a covered front porch with a swing in a peaceful setting. Enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to the serenity of the country life. The house is dated as you can see in the photos, but most importantly the house is clean and cozy! Less than 15 minutes from Fall Creek Falls. Pet friendly! Nearby neighbors are wonderful people and are life-long residents. You just might get to see white tailed deer, Sebastopol geese or a monkey when you pass by. You may have to climb the mountain on your drive as we are located on the Cumberland Plateau! “A Work of Art” I know this story may sound silly to most people but our cabin in the woods was a retirement dream for my husband and me. My husband “Art” was an Architect and General Contractor. Everything he did was a “work of Art”. I was/am a hairstylist. My name is Marie. Art was extremely talented and precise with everything he did. It was one of the many things that made me fall in love with him. This was a second marriage for both of us. Early in our marriage we both agreed that we wanted to retire in Tennessee. Somewhere in the mountains, not close to any major stores, someplace quiet and in a quaint town with friendly people. For several years we looked on the internet for potential retirement homes and one day this cabin went on the market. It was perfect, it met every criteria we had but we weren’t of retirement age yet, so we let the cabin slip through our fingers and someone else stepped up to the plate and made an offer on it. Soon our cabin was off the market. We were very sad but on the other hand we knew we weren’t ready and couldn’t afford that purchase at that time. We consoled ourselves and said it just wasn’t meant to be. So we forged forward, worked even harder and continued to scout the internet for retirement homes, but nothing compared to our cabin in the woods. Then one day, there it was again, back on the market for sale. I immediately told Art and he said to call the real estate person. So I did. The real estate person told us that the previous buyers couldn’t get financing. We saw this as a blessing for us and told the real estate person we could be there in 2 days and to hold it for us to view. In our hearts we knew this would be our retirement home so we ventured out and arrived 2 days later. Art inspected the cabin with a fine tooth comb and said “we’ll take it”. Much to our dismay 2 other offers came in on the cabin that day so Art said we’ll pay full asking price. We signed the contract gave a deposit, and went back home to figure out how we were going to pay for it. Well, needless to say when you want something bad enough, you find a way, and that’s what we did. Two years later we retired and moved to our cabin in the woods. Our dream came true. Unfortunately, Art was only able to enjoy his dream for the next 3 years as he became ill and died. I’ve been struggling to keep our dream alive and now with your help I can make that dream a reality once more. Thank you for choosing to stay in our cabin in the woods. It is filled with many happy memories. My name is Christy and I will be your host. My husband Bob and I are Marie's Tennessee friends and neighbor. We realized Marie was overwelmd with maintaing two houses from two different states. Marie considered placing her home up for sale, but we knew she really didn't want to do that. We love Marie very much and so together we decided to list her house on Airbnb. Sometimes you find friends of a lifetime and you're willing to help them in any way you can. Please don't judge a book by its cover! Nearby neighbors are wonderful people and are life-long residents of the area. You just might be lucky enough to see white tailed deer, Sebastopol geese, baby goats or a monkey when you pass by. Fall Creek Falls State Park entrance is only 15 minutes away!
