Holliday & King is a great option for families or a group of friends who want to get away and enjoy small town life. Located in the center of Strasburg's historic district, it is close to small restaurants, a brewery and shopping. The house itself is part of the Town's history, built in 1761, the year Strasburg was chartered. Enjoy large rooms, high ceilings and a lovely porch where you can watch activity in the town. PETS ARE WELCOME BUT PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR FUR BABY! The first floor has a sitting room, game room and a large dining room to fit your whole group. Each bedroom has it's own thermostat to ensure personal comfort. Our favorite part of the house is the large front porch, which can be enjoyed rain or shine. As you wander this large and gracious house think about what it has seen for the past 250 years. Our guests have access to the entire house, with the exception of the basement and attic. Access to the basement is outside and access to the attic is from the second floor. Neither of these areas easily accomodates people. We want our guests to feel at home so we provide lockbox access and are able to be in contact throughout your stay for any questions or concerns. Should you have special requests before your book, just contact us via airbnb and we’ll be happy to work something out. The home is in the middle of Strasburg's historic section. Guests can walk to several vintage/antique shops in town and you will be one block away from the Strasburg Emporium, which is a collection of over 60 vintage and antique dealers. The house is also within walking distance to a unique brewery, several restaurants and driving distance to many parks and trails within the Shenandoah Valley. The town and its neighborhoods are made for walking. Many of the structures are dated before the civil war and you will see plaques on many buildings that identify where potters worked. In the late 19th to early 20th century, Strasburg was known for it's many potters and had the nickname of Pot Town. They used the rich clay from the valley to make the stone ware. The town also hosts several festivals throughout the year as do nearby towns along Route 11. We will have information on the town and activities in the home when you arrive You are in a small town and one of our interesting features is the fire department siren. The fire department is only a half block away, so you will hear it. The siren calls in the volunteers who keep us safe. It will last no more than 90 seconds, but will be loud. Four bursts of the siren means there has been an accident on I-81. It is not a siren for tornadoes or bad weather.
