Ready to trade the hustle and bustle of city life for some R&R in the countryside? Our charming, riverside cottage is just the place to disconnect and get back to nature. Relax and recharge in our newly-renovated cottage, featuring one bedroom, one bathroom, a small kitchen, a comfy living room, and a vintage-style gas stove. Our location in the Bucks County town of Upper Black Eddy is perfect for nature lovers, foodies, art enthusiasts, or anybody who wants to enjoy some peace and quiet. Our cozy cottage can comfortably accommodate two adults. The bedroom features a plush king-size bed, two arm chairs, and a rustic gas stove. Planning a winter getaway? There’s no better way to stay warm than by a glowing fire. The cottage has one full bathroom with brand-new tile work and furnishings, including a porcelain sink and a glass-enclosed shower. We provide towels, delicious-smelling toiletries, and a hair dryer for your convenience. Our sun-drenched kitchen features a two-burner gas cook top, a microwave, a fridge, a freezer, a coffee grinder, coffee maker, and all the utensils and dishes you’d require to whip up a romantic dinner for two (or to reheat take-out). In the living room, we have a comfy sectional and a smart TV, perfect for those lazy evenings after a day of exploring the Bucks County wilderness. You may even want to pair your movie night with a bottle of wine from a local Pennsylvania vineyard - there are several nearby. And one of our favorite features the cottage isn’t even inside - it’s the great outdoors! Our property sits between the Delaware River and the Delaware Canal, so a morning stroll or jog by the water is absolutely a possibility here. You may wake up to the sound of birds chirping or a breeze rushing through the leaves, too. But if you don’t want to leave your connected life behind completely, we understand. The cottage offers free WiFi throughout, and our smart TV in the living room gives you access to your favorite streaming services. The grounds offer plenty of natural tranquility and views of mature trees, and our property borders the scenic Delaware River, where you’ll find a landing with a couple Adirondack chairs, perfect for cozying up with a book or a glass of wine. During your stay, you’ll have complete access to the cottage. Feel free to park in the driveway and enjoy the grounds. Our river frontage is open for your use; if you’d like to bring your own kayaks or paddle boards, you’re welcome to set sail from our riverbank. The property also directly borders the Delaware State Canal Park and tow path, and just across our bridge are 27 acres of woodsy wilderness. We hope you feel completely at home here. We believe in giving you personal space and privacy, so our level of interaction is up to you. We like to meet during check-in to give you the keys and a quick orientation of the property, but sometimes self check-in is necessary if we’re not available to greet you. While our house is on the same land as the cottage, we believe in giving you your personal space, so just let us know if we can assist with anything or provide any local recommendations. We’re always happy to help! Even though it’s just 90 minutes by car from Manhattan and Philadelphia, Bucks County feels like it’s worlds away. Upper Black Eddy was founded in the 1800’s, and it still boasts many original buildings, giving it a quaint, historic atmosphere. This quiet canal town sits adjacent to the Delaware River, and across the river from Milford, New Jersey. Just ten minutes away on foot, Milford is home to the Milford Market (the closest grocery store) and the lively Milford House pub and seafood restaurant. Frenchtown is also a great little rivertown for a meal, bike rentals, coffee and quaint shops. Don’t miss visiting the oldest general store in the Delaware Canal area - Homestead General Store and Coffee Roasters - which is just a 10 minute walk from the cottage. And for a more unusual sightseeing stop, visit the nearby Ringing Rocks County Park, where the rocks, quite literally, ring when struck. Outdoor enthusiasts will love Bucks County any time of year, with watersports, bike trails, and fishing spots in the summer, stunning foliage in the fall, and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Winter sports are especially enjoyable when you can come home to our cozy, cast-iron stove at the end of the day. Just 30 minutes south by car is the historic town of New Hope, PA, known for vibrant nightlife, high-end art, and community theatre at the Bucks County Playhouse. A popular place to visit in the spring is the colorful Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, which contains several beautiful miles of walking trails. We recommend getting to Upper Black Eddy by car or Uber, since public transportation from NYC or Philadelphia only serves the area with limited routes. Transportation in the Upper Black Eddy area is best by car as well, and taxis and ridesharing services are available here. Our cottage is within walking distance of several restaurants, but for Bucks County adventures beyond our town, we recommend driving.
