Very quiet home built in 1890, the house still holds the same charm it did 125 years ago! Great for traveling health professionals working at Copley Hospital, The Manor, or any of the other health services locations. Rent includes all utilities (heat, electric, cable/wifi, water, and monthly maid service). Walk to both Northern Vermont University and downtown Johnson. You must be a non-smoker, respectful of others right to a clean house, non-drug user, and have absolutely NO pets. Most staying at the home are healthcare professionals from around the country. You'll have your own room but share a bathroom and common living areas with the other tenants. Parking is on-site but you will need a car as there are not public transportation options. Lynda the property manager will be available via text message. Our House We love our property in Johnson! It's our second home. We live in Charleston, SC but I (Travis) grew up in Johnson and purchased this property partially as an investment, partially to have a place to go when my family comes home to see relatives. A lot of blood sweat and tears went into this property. My father, mother, and brother all worked on this house to make it the place it is today…a sanctuary from all the craziness! We’ve tried to add a bit of ourselves and Vermont into the house. Favorite Winter Activities Smugglers Notch -About 25 minutes away. Great family environment for skiing but they also have a ton of other activities. Stowe Mountain - About 30 minutes to the village of Stowe and about 35 minutes to the top of the mountain. Stowe Restaurants (Our Favorites) •Hen of the Wood (actually in Waterbury) •Pie-Casso On the mountain road. Great pizza and atmosphere. •Harrisons - Really good food. •Flannel at Topnotch Resort. The best place to have dinner in the summer and a great place for brunch in the winter. Their patio is amazing and by the way…this is where we got married! •Jay Peak – About 45 minutes away. Skiing is great but the water park is awesome! If the weather isn’t cooperating, the indoor water park at Jay Peak is a blast and highly recommended. Snowshoeing – Snowshoe the long trail, the rail trail, or just walk into the woods! There are a ton of places to go close buy. Sledding – There are sleds in the shed behind the house. Feel free to use them. Sledding in front of the Daycare building is great! Lots of local kids use the hill. You can also hike up the hill towards Johnson State College and find tons of hills to sled down. Cross Country Skiing – The rail trail is perfect for cross country skiing. To get to the rail trail, go into town and take a left onto Railroad Street. Cross over the large Steel Bridge and you will see a lumber mill (Parker & Stearns). Go past the lumber mill and on the back side of it, you will see a path that looks like it is a part of the lumber mill but its actually the rail trail. If you’ve gone to French Hill Rd off of Railroad Street then you’ve gone too far. There are also other places that cater to Cross Country Skiing. Here are a few others Snowmobiling – There are hundreds of great places for this. Ice Climbing Ice Skating – If its been cold enough, there is an ice skating rink right below the house! Favorite Summer Activities: Hiking – Amazing Hiking all over! The closest and easiest hike is the Sterling Pond Hike near Smugglers Notch. Camels Hump is our favorite hike and generally an all day event. Here are some other suggestions: Swimming – We love swimming the rivers in Vermont. They are clean, refreshing, and picturesque. Down the road is a swimming hole you can use called Beard Recreation Park. It won’t show up on any maps but its a 5 min walk from the house. Take a left on School Street, walk almost to the covered bridge and you’ll see a small field on the right. In the middle of the field is a small path. Take the path down to the swimming hole. Its amazingly refreshing. Another great spot close by is called Journey’s End. Biking – The rail trail is awesome for this. Running – Same as above. Again, the house is very quiet with bedrooms on the second floor and shared living space on the first floor. We usually have 4-6 people staying at the house at a time. Most stay for 1-3 months and are traveling healthcare workers.
