The Vineyard Mansion was built, in 1890, by the famed architectural firm of Eckel and Mann for B.R. Vineyard, a prominent attorney in St. Joseph, MO. This Romanesque Revival-style mansion was divided into apartments in the 1940's and has been meticulously restored to its original use. We are now ready to welcome guests to relax in the splendor of the Gilded Age and share in the unique history of this property. The Crown Room is our most romantic space, featuring a brightly-lit seating area and a gorgeous queen-bed that gives the room its name due to the four crowns at the corners of the bed-frame. The secret to the romantic ambiance lies within the crowns themselves, as each hides a candle, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Guests of the Crown Room also enjoy the use of the hall bath, just a few steps down the hall. No other guests use this bathroom, but on occasion the host may use this bathroom The Vineyard Mansion is located within the Museum Hill Historic District, an area of St. Joseph well-known for its Victorian-era homes and buildings. Strolling through the neighborhood, guests can observe beautiful examples of Italianate, Second Empire, Queen Anne, American Foursquare, Tudor Revival, and Bungalow/Craftsman style architecture. Additionally, the property is within walking distance of multiple attractions, including restaurants, bars, parks, art, culture, and the St. Joseph Museum, which sits just across the street. Guests booking now enjoy a discounted rate, as we are still restoring some sections of the property. So you will not only pocket some savings, but you will also get to see a bit of the restoration process, in action.
