Regarding the property, there is nothing like the sound of water, whether it be at the beach, a mountain stream, or in this case a year-round creek nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. 3 acres although some is off limits due to Emerald Ash Borer affecting some trees. Yet plenty of room to enjoy other very tall trees, sound of water and other aspects of nature. Great location for exploring East Tennessee and a bit of North Carolina. Concrete driveway with a 4 lane US Highway less than a ½ mile away for easy access to Maryville and tourist areas of East Tennessee. Located in Blount County, the same county as the Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. For best understanding of property, please read the captions under all of the pictures. Guests have access to entire 3 acre property except for storage buildings / maintenance areas and crawl space. 2nd gazebo (which is smaller and older than larger screened in gazebo) is off limits due to pending repair. A portion of the woods is off limits due to several large trees that have died from the Emerald Ash Borer (but there is still plenty or room to roam and enjoy the outdoors). Self check-in using code to enter at front door. Hosts are normally available via text. Interactions will be limited due to Covid 19 concerns. For longer stays, hosts might need to water outdoor flowers at some point during your stay, and if so will come and go outside only as discreetly as possible. Weather permitting will normally mow very large yard between guests visits. Note: No wild parties and per strict zoning requirements guests are limited to the count registered with reservation. Situated in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, take the main road to the town of Maryville where there are many eateries and stores (Walmart 10 mins away) or take a parallel road, "Old Niles Ferry" for a more leisurely drive with views. 2 antique shops within 2 miles, 1 restaurant (Jake's Place) within 2 miles a convenience store within 1/3 mile. The Greenback Drugstore (3 miles away) is a small town restaurant that allows you to step back in time. Closer to the property is Bakers Creek Presbyterian Church and cemetery. Sam Houston walked this area (the old mill which used to be on the adjacent property was likely a gathering place. Sam Houston's mother is buried in the church cemetery). Take a drive to Fort Loudoun State Park (outside of nearby Vonore) and enjoy the beautiful views of Tellico Lake (source of our public drinking water) and a reconstructed fort interesting for both kids and adults. 5 recommended day trips: 1) Tail of the Dragon to Fontana Dam (highest dam in Eastern US), 2) Foothills Parkway to Cades Cove area of Great Smoky Mountain National Park, 3) Bald River Falls, Ft. Loudoun State Park (fort), Cherohala Skyway, 4) Pigeon Forge tourist areas (Dollywood) by way of “missing link” of Foothills Parkway, 5) Gatlinburg by way of GSMNP Little River Rd, Clingmans Dome and surrounding areas of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Less than 25 minutes from Knoxville Airport - McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS). Concrete driveway has a turnaround spot and parking for several cars with additional parking in the grass on the right side of driveway (opposite sidewalk). Smoking is permitted only outside and restricted to front porch, deck attached to back of home, and patio area that includes firepit, bench swing, and one of the picnic tables. The reason smoking is not allowed in gazebo is that wood is located under the floor of gazebo. The reason smoking is not allowed on 2nd deck and bridge to 2nd deck is this area can be a real tender box with many dry twigs following periods of no rain. Limiting smoking to 3 outdoor areas is makes it easier to clean up discarded cigarette butts. Thank you for respecting these restrictions.
