This spacious, two-story apartment is the main part of a home in which the basement was walled off into a separate apartment. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood 3 blocks from Earlham College, 2.5 miles from the Wayne County Fairgrounds, and 3.7 miles from Reid Hospital. It sleeps up to 8. We offer discounts for weekly and monthly stays, when booked in advance. For stays longer than 14 days, occupancy is capped at 5 and you must submit a reservation request. The first floor of the house has a large front porch that, during warmer months, has four cushioned chairs and two small tables for your use. (We can bring these out during colder months as well, on request.) The porch is also where guests can smoke (we provide ashtrays on request). The large living room has an enclosed gas fireplace, a large-screen Samsung Smart TV with DISH Network, a futon-style sofa that folds down into a full-size bed (with an inner-spring futon), and a side chair. Also on the first floor, the large, fully equipped kitchen has an expandable dining table that seats up to 8, a Keurig coffeemaker that makes either individual cups or can be used to fill a stainless steel carafe using ground coffee (a starter supply of K-cups is provided), and numerous other appliances (see the amenities listings, or ask if we have what you need). A lockable door in the kitchen leads to a laundry room area that also has a half bath. Please note that the laundry room area (including the half bath) may be used by our very trustworthy extended-stay guests in other apartments from 9 am-9 p.m daily. For your privacy and sense of safety, simply lock the door from the kitchen to the laundry room area. Upstairs, you will find all three bedrooms as well as the full bathroom with vintage tiles and tub-shower unit. The master suite has a plush queen bed, chifforobe, desk and an attached sun room with seating that folds down into a very small bed. The next-largest bedroom has a pillow-top full bed and small sitting area, a desk and a small closet. The smallest bedroom has two twin beds (one plush and one firm), a desk and a medium-size closet. Guests have exclusive access to the front porch and main section of the original home. Guests also have access to shared laundry facilities and a half bath through the lockable door in the kitchen. We are always available to help, and we welcome requests for things that would make your stay more comfortable. This house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, across the street from a wooded park that has a playground. The park also has a log cabin with an added-on activity room and outside shelter that are available for rental from the City of Richmond (if, for example, you are planning a family reunion). Adjacent to the park is a basketball court located on the grounds of a nearby middle school. AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION: We recommend you call Susie’s Shuttle Service at (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Airport transportation is also provided by area taxicab companies. AROUND TOWN: Rose View Transit buses stop at several locations within a block of this location. As of June (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , the regular bus fare was $1.75 and the rate for students, seniors and people with disabilities was $1.50. Other public transportation options include local cab companies, Uber and Lyft. Richmond also has dedicated bike lanes throughout the downtown area, as well as the Cardinal Greenway, a rails-to-trails conversion. We ask that guests avoid putting anything down the toilets other than whatever comes out of them and toilet paper. No feminine products. No “flushable” wipes. Because this an older home, the insides of the pipes have mineral deposits on which things other than toilet paper and waste can snag, creating blockages that cause messy, smelly backups (bad for you) and costly plumbing bills (bad for us). We allow guests to “instant book” stays of 2 to 14 nights. We also allow longer stays (up to 90 nights), subject to our approval. Just message us with a request, even if it isn’t for exactly the days you want, to check availability for longer stays. Please note that there is another apartment directly beneath the first floor of this apartment, and the kitchen and laundry room are above the bedroom of that apartment. As a result, we ask two things: Please limit extremely loud noises on the first floor, especially at night in the kitchen area. Please limit your use of the washer and dryer to the hours between 9 am and 9 pm.
