The Drug Store, nestled in the heart of Fort Davis, is a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. Staying in the rooms of the hotel above provides convenient, and often VIP, access to one of the must-visit places in the area. You'll have a chance to meet and talk to Richard and Jennifer, the owners, about the town's history and must-see sights. The 22-foot soda fountain installed in 1950 is a favorite attraction serving old time hand-mixed fountain drinks and ice cream treats like milkshakes, sundaes and banana splits. For breakfast, lunch and dinner the restaurant provides fresh and tasty, homestyle food just steps from the rooms on the second floor. Room #2 is decorated in cozy, ranch style with wood and metal beds, 2 queens to be exact, with Serta Perfect Sleeper Mattresses, hard wood floors, antique armoire, and cowhide rug. The flat screen TV, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker allow for comfortable long stays and views of Sleeping Lion Mountain and downtown Fort Davis will make you want to stay. Guests have access to their private room and bathroom as well as access to the lounge which has seating and tables to use for dining or fun and the back deck with benches. I'm often available throughout the day but any of the restaurant staff downstairs can assist or find a manager who can. We are usually onsite an hour before the restaurant opens and for 2 hours after closing. The Drug Store is in the heart of picturesque Fort Davis, just steps from the courthouse, library and historic neighborhoods for exploring. There are lots of shops within walking distance as well. We are about 35 minutes from the McDonald Observatory, 25 minutes from Marfa or Alpine and, 10 minutes from Davis Mountain State Park and around 40 minutes from Balmorhea State Park and Pool. There is no public transportation in Fort Davis. There is a charging station for electric cars and 2 gas stations, Exxon and Porters Grocery. All parking is on the street which is very safe here. CHECK-IN is available in the restaurant. If you are going to arrive after the restaurant closes please let us know and we can provide instruction on entering the building and a code for the keypad. Your keys will be left on the nightstand nearest the door in your room and your room will be open. You may CHECK-OUT with anyone in the restaurant or simply leave your keys in the collection box at the bottom of the stairs.
