The guest cottage is "attached" to the back side of the 1880's farm house and shares an acre of land. The property is located In the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, in the small town of Broadway. It is just a short drive from all the valley has to offer: hiking, Civil War battlefields, wineries, breweries, cavern tours, skiing, golfing, Shenandoah National Park, James Madison University, antique shopping, and Mennonite markets. You must be 25 or older to rent. There is no minimum night stay. Step back in time with decor that reminds you of yesteryear, but with all the modern conveniences. There is Wifi and Roku with a Netflix guest profile provided. You can also log in on your apps on the Roku. The property has plenty of free parking and is an acre in size with a privacy fence to the front, with views of open fields to the back. There is shared access to a fire pit, concrete basketball pad, croquet, and bocci ball. You also have shared access to the main house back porch and deck--have breakfast or a glass of wine outside at the porch "table" or sit in the chair swing on the deck which surrounds and is shaded by a large maple tree. There is a private entrance to the cottage off the porch, and there are no shared spaces within the cottage. The back yard of the main house is available to the guests but will possibly be shared with us, the homeowners, but no other guests. We live in the main house full-time and will do our best to respect your privacy. I am available by phone 24 hours a day. Emergency calls only from 8 pm to 8 am Monday through Saturday, and 6 pm to 11 am on Sunday. The main home was built in the 1880's-in fact, was inhabited at one time by the real life characters of "Widow on the Hill". It is located on the edge of an older, quiet section of the small town of Broadway which was recently rated the safest town in Virginia. It has a spa, eclectic shops and several restaurants to chose from. It is also conveniently located several miles off interstate 81 and all that the valley has to offer. All freeway travel, no 4 wheel drive necessary! This is a small town so there is no bus/ train service. The downtown/business/main street is within walking/biking distance. You can also drive of course! Even though the property is in the Shenandoah Valley, four wheel drive is not required to safely reach it during the winter time.
