Welcome to the Rod and Reel Retreat! Do you want an up north, cabin getaway but don’t want to sit in traffic for 3+ hours? The Rod and Reel Retreat on West Rush Lake is the place for you. Situated less than an hour from the Twin Cities, this seasonal cabin is the perfect destination for fishing, swimming, relaxation and family time. The Rod and Reel Retreat sits in a quiet bay. You will have access to an adult kayak, two child-sized kayaks, and fishing poles. While you aren’t enjoying the water, relax in the hammock or spend quality time together around the bonfire pit. Take in the sights and sounds of nature; bald eagles, loons and hummingbirds are often spotted from the deck. The cabin has two bedrooms. One has a queen sized bed and the other has bunkbeds. There is a small 3/4 bathroom. West Rush Lake is considered a premier fishing lake in Central Minnesota. There’s a spot on the dock for your boat with a private boat launch just steps away. Casting right off the dock is a hot spot for pan fish as well. Bring your boat and keep it at our dock during your stay! The cabin’s recently remodeled kitchen has all the tools and cooking equipment you might need along with a gas grill on the large deck. If you’d rather go out to eat, there are two restaurants right on the lake. Cambridge is a short drive away and has a variety of restaurants and stores for your shopping needs. There’s a bowling alley, apple orchard, two golf courses and winery all within 15 minutes. Rainy day? No problem, Grand Casino Hinkley is about a half hour away. New in 2021 - there is wi-fi! So if you need to get some work done while at the lake, you have that option. The best months to swim are June and July; in August, the bay gets slightly green depending on the day, so if you are hoping to spend a lot of time swimming off the dock, our cabin may not be the best fit for you. Sorry, we cannot accommodate bach parties/rowdy groups. We want to respect our neighbors' space and keep that a positive relationship. Our county has a noise ordinance/curfew from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. that we need to follow so we can respect our neighbors.
