18th Century Landmark in Old Town Alexandria
Duvall House - George Washington ate here! In the heart of Old Town Alexandria.
An 18th Century Landmark, the subject of books, accolades and tours through the centuries. In the heart of Old Town Alexandria, George Washington was literally celebrated here in 1783 upon his triumphant return home to Mount Vernon following his victory over the British monarchy in the Revolutionary War. A party of epic proportions, including a 13 cannon salute in adjacent Market Square (now home to City Hall) was hosted at William Duvall’s Tavern to honor the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.
