Our 700 sq. foot guest cottage can comfortably accommodate 2 adults. It’s perfectly situated between the Delaware River and Delaware Canal. You’ll get country views from every window with no visual distraction from other homes, aside from the main residence (which you can barely see when inside cottage). Included is your own private parking area and private (fenced) backyard. You’ll also have access to the side yard, where your car will be parked. To protect your privacy, we won't wander around on that side of the property during your stay. You may hear us and our dogs in the main residence at times, however, we always strive to be as quiet as possible when guests are here. **** Note: The steps leading to the bedroom may feel a bit steep to those with knee injuries or age-related issues. To receive this complimentary service, just place the canvas bag outside on the door handle before you go to sleep on your first night. This lets me know that you’d like fresh bagels delivered to your door in the morning (approximately 8:30). *NOTE: if you’d like them delivered a bit earlier or later, let me know through the Airbnb Messenger (bagel delivery is available anytime between 8:00 and 10:00am). *During winter months, if waiting outside too long, bagels start to freeze and get hard. Guests have access to the entire cottage, including private living room, private kitchen, private bathroom, private bedroom, private fenced-in backyard and private parking area. Although our house is next to the cottage, we give you your privacy and personal space, but please reach out if you have any questions or concerns during your visit. We strive to make your stay special & unforgettable. Our property is surrounded by woods and offers a view of the neighboring lake during autumn and winter. We also border the 'Giving Pond' which sits on a 150-acre preserved section of the Delaware Canal State Park. Its a great place to fish, kayak, picnic or just relax by the lake. Its home to a variety of frogs and turtles, and is known to be a popular destination for birdwatchers. If you enjoy long walks (2.5 miles), the canal path will lead you to the Homestead Cafe & Roastery, where you can enjoy coffee, breakfast or lunch while sitting outside watching the ducks swim along the canal. You can also take the canal path to Ulherstown Road and cross the bridge that delivers you into the quaint village of Frenchtown. Once you arrive, the Delaware river will provide a captivating backdrop as you spend the day exploring art galleries, gift shops, restaurants and cafes. We're within 20 minutes of Ringing Rocks park, Lake Nockamixon and High Rocks where you can hike, kayak, mountain bike or rock climb. The Delaware river is within walking distance and is very popular for canoeing, kayaking and tubing (local rentals are available). Paddling on the Giving Pond is also an option, if you're more comfortable on a calmer body of water. The property sits among nature and is home to many wildlife. You may notice deer, fox, owl, hawks and if you get lucky, a soaring bald eagle. NOTE: We're also surrounded by many bodies of water (Delaware river, neighboring lake, Giving Pond and the Delaware canal) as well as an abundance of vegetation, so you may come across insects at certain times of the year. This area has been experiencing an influx of stink bugs during spring. It's a garden pest from Asia that first appeared in the USA sometime in the late 90's. We didn't start seeing them in Bucks County until the early (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) 's. Some of them do find their way inside the cottage as temps begin to drop in order to over-winter. They hide in the smallest of crevices and are often out of sight until the warm weather arrives. They only appear when ready to find their way back outside, but we always block our calendar for a few days in early April to allow any to emerge so they can be removed. Unfortunately, they are immune to most pesticides and their natural predator (samurai wasps) are not in the USA yet. It's been a challenge to control them but we've been very successful so far. We did have a few unusually warm days in March (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) which caught us off guard. Thankfully, there is talk about releasing samurai wasps into the USA soon. It's best to have your own car (or hire an Uber driver), if you'd like to explore beautiful Bucks County or any nearby towns/cities. Even though our property is very private with no visible houses to distract from the nature-like setting, we're still within 15 minutes of major roads including Route 611, Route 412, Route 413 and Route 212. You can also reach the Northeast Extension, Route 78, Route 309 and Interstate I-95 within a 25 mile drive. If you'd like to grab a bite to eat, you'll find options for Japanese, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, American, Vegetarian, Vegan, and Fine Dining within a 5 minute drive to Frenchtown or Milford. Both are within biking distance by way of the canal path. If you're feeling adventurous or would like to walk back to cottage after a night at the pub, both towns can be reached in approximately 45 minutes by foot along the canal path. Our property is within biking distance (or 5 minute drive) to Tinicum Park where you can enjoy a game of disc golf (bring your own discs) or watch polo on Saturdays. The park is also home to the Tinicum Dog Show, Tinicum Art Festival and Tinicum Antique Show.
