Completely private with panoramic views and rolling meadows of native fern, wildflower and grasses. Meadow & Fern is the ideal location for a weekend of fun with friends/family, a week-long adventure getaway, or reunion. Beautiful accommodations, perennial gardens and mountain vistas make this property a delightful retreat. Spacious living areas indoor, large deck with panoramic views, patio with 4 burner gas grill, lawn areas large enough for a game of softball, soccer, frisbee etc. and river swimming within walking distance from the property will suit all your entertaining needs. A short and scenic drive will take you to area private schools; Northfield Mt.Herman, Stonleigh Burnham, Deerfield Academy and Eaglebrook, Colleges; UMass, Smith, Amherst, Hampshire, Williams, Mt. Holyake and MA Liberal Arts and art museums; MASS MoCA, Sterling & Francis Clark, Smith College Museum and Williams Collage Museum, all short day trips. Berkshire East is a four season adventure resort, a close 8 miles, while Mount Snow and Stratton Mountain ski areas in Vermont are less than one hour away. If privacy is important, we are the perfect location. Meadow & Fern borders 629 acres of Mass Audubon Society land preserve. Hiking trails, a babbling brook, groves of pine and the famous High Ledges Wildlife Sanctuary can be accessed directly from our grounds. Just a few steps away from our entrance you will find the junction of two rivers, The North and The Deerfield, which merge to create a famous local swimming area known as Sunburn Beach featuring amazing rock formations and a river sand island. Here you can enjoy river swimming and warm rock sunbathing. A short walk will take you to the entrance to Catamount State Forest. On your hike you can discover the stone walls and foundations of the original Catamount community, boulder caves, the Farley family cemetery and the pristine McLeod Pond. We are close to wildlife sanctuaries, hiking trails, swimming, biking, skiing, river rafting and zip line activities A short 2 miles will take you to the Village of Shelburne Falls home of the famous Bridge of Flowers, Glacial Potholes, Salmon Falls, shopping and many amazing dining experiences. The Village downtown and surrounding areas were significant set locations for two movies, The Judge, staring Robert Downey Jr & best supporting actor recipient Robert Duval and Labor Day staring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. Our electricity is powered by the sun with geothermal and passive solar heat & hot water. Breathtaking vistas include Catamount Mountain State Forest to the north and the Berkshire Mountains to the west.
