Balsam Haus in Alpine Village with Fishing Pond

Balsam Haus is located approximately 1.8 miles from the heart of Little Switzerland and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The home is located in the quiet mountain community of Alpine Village. The wrap around porch features lush forest views with a private pond in the backyard; a great place to fish and relax. Alpine Falls, a private waterfall, is just a mile down the road, accessible by car or moderate level hike. The home was purchased in the summer of 2020 and has been extensively remodeled. The Balsam Haus is a cozy three story home located in the quiet residential community of Alpine Village and is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet book in a rocking chair on the front porch, catch a large mouth bass in the backyard pond or have a bbq with family and friends on the deck. Little Switzerland is close to numerous local attractions such as the The Emerald Mine, Diamondback Trail, Penland Art School and Gallery, Mt. Mitchell, Linville Falls, or Grandfather Mountain to name a few. Locally horseback riding, river tubing, and rock climbing are available. Enjoy access to a private waterfall located within the community, you won't find this waterfall on any map!! Accessible by car or a moderate difficulty hike, Alpine Falls are a special treat for any guest. I live across the street from the Balsam Haus in the Edelweiss Chalet. Little Switzerland was founded in 1909 as a resort community with elevations of 3500 ft, its a wonderful place to go and escape the heat of summer or enjoy beautiful fall foliage. The area has quite a bit of wildlife; a few neighbors in the community have horses while others have goats, sheep, and chickens. Plus there are usually a few wild Canadian geese or ducks at the ponds. Turkey, deer, and pheasants are a common sight in the area too. Little Switzerland is a short drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Spruce Pine. We are located about an hour from Asheville and Boone.
