With accommodations for eight guests it is perfect for a getaway with friends and family, wedding parties and work retreats. The house received a meticulous restoration that includes all mechanical systems and a modern addition with a gourmet kitchen and master bedroom. The property also includes a three car garage as well as a restored smoke house and log cabin. Friendship Farm is conveniently located one hour from Baltimore and Washington DC and 45 minutes from Gettysburg, PA. Located just minutes from Linganore Winecellars and Black Ankle Vineyards. Enjoy all that Frederick County has to offer including wineries, distilleries, craft breweries, historic civil war sites as well as biking on the C&O Canal and kayaking the Potomac and Monocacy rivers. Historic downtown Frederick is a 20-minute drive and offers delicious dining, shops and nightlife. A stay at Poole House is a unique opportunity to experience a beautifully restored historic house. The house sits in a private, secluded setting with gorgeous views of 240 acre Friendship Farm. The stone portion of the house was built in two phases. The original part of the house was completed before the Revolutionary War and the second stone section was built in 1790. The restoration and furnishings are true to the period in which the house was built but guests are also provided with modern comforts including wifi, television, central heat and air, heated floors in the kitchen and more. Bedrooms and bathrooms have fresh new sheets and towels. Guests have full access to the large, front and side lawns as well as access to the walking trails that run along Linganore Creek and throughout the farm. Please keep in mind that this property was built in the 1700s and is not accessible or safe for small children. There are narrow, winding staircases in the house that we ask you to take caution when using. A two night minimum stay is required for weekend bookings. An outdoor fire pit and firewood are provided. We live in a separate residence on the farm and are available if something comes up. If you'd like we can show you around the property upon arrival and then the house is yours to enjoy in a private setting. You are welcome to let yourself in with the keypad lock and only contact us if you need something. Poole House is the original manor house of Friendship Farm which consists of 240 acres of open fields and woods as well as walking trails. Linganore creek runs through the back of the farm. Our neighborhood is very rural and secluded. Horse and dairy farms surround the house as well as farm wineries and breweries. Grocery stores and restaurants are a close drive away in the towns of Mt. Airy, New Market and Frederick.
