Welcome to Landscaper Willies Cottage at the Melrose. While Willy is snowbirding in Mexico his Cottage is available. We’re located in a Small town between Woodstock 10 min. & London 23 min. The Cottage is set up for 2 ideally with the 2nd floor bedroom acting as office w day bed and window seat. You’ll find the original Xlong clawfut tub juxtaposed with the French style vanity and glass shower. Modern kitchen w granite Cafe’ Counter. River trails 2 blocks, golf 4 blocks, amenities steps away Part of the evolving ‘The Melrose’ Airbnb this enchanting Victorian home had its own Maid Butlers quarters and Kitchen. Which is now Willies Cottage. Built in 1887 it was part of the Grand House and Willy would have looked after the Bowling Green, Gardens and exterior maintenance shared with the Stable keeper. The Cottage is set on Wonham St. On a beautifully landscaped lot. The main bedroom is on the ground floor and the upstairs bathroom bedroom is accessed by a narrow staircase, so do be aware if you’re physically challenged. You’ll find skiing just north at Cobble Hills and lots of golf courses. They’res a walking trail from the Cheese Museum all the way downtown and a River trail at the bottom of Wonham street. Tim’s and McD’s are a couple of minutes by car or foot, even closer the Independent grocer w Wines and Beers or Foodland adjacent to the LCBO, BEER Store and Dominos. The downtown is also 4 blocks with Restaurants bars, banks. In its hayday Ingersoll had 7 hotels as it was a major implement and hardware manufacturing centre. Shipping across the Commonwealth. Today we’re just a small town nestled between London and Woodstock. Minutes off the 401. Quiet, friendly with parks, river trails and golf steps away. 45 minutes to Lake Erie, 75 minutes to Grand Bend. You can access it via King St or Charles St, a 4 block walk. The Olde bakery is mid block on Thames St. An original bakery serving lunch and coffee/tea/treats. Patina’s, featuring local artists giftware is also on Thames St. a few doors north. You’ll find the Mango Salad,(Thai), Jesters Arms and Chucks Road house, Tim’s and McDonald’s on Thames. For a walking tour of Old Ingersoll. Head up the hill, south on Wonham, turn left on Anne, right on Oxford Continue left onto Dufferin then left, north onto Thames St. that brings you back to King and Charles streets that will bring you back home. River trails are at the bottom of Wonham St. Thursday’s you’ll here the bagpipers practicing down there. Also east on King if you continue past Thames St., opposite Mill St. You’ll pick up the walkway (south) that passes through our Victorian era park, over Canterbury it continues past the old Mill dam winding over and across Wellington St, past the community centre, the cteative arts centre and finally the Cheese museum at the edge of town
