The Fern Hill Lodge, lovingly renovated by a local master carpenter, is perfect for families, couples or friends looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in nature. Relax and unwind on our private, secluded, rustic sanctuary just 2 hours northwest of NYC. We are nestled on a luscious hill off the main road, hidden on our gorgeous, ferntastic 7-acre property. The entire house and land are yours to enjoy! Please follow us on our new IG page! @thefernhilllodge At our home, you will find a meticulously renovated open-plan living room with vaulted ceilings, a massive stone fireplace, and a new kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The living space includes multiple places to sit, relax, and listen to music on a Victrola record player (with Bluetooth) or on a 1950s vintage tube radio! The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools you might need to make an amazing dinner (please check our amenities for more details); the island has seating for two, while the custom rustic dining table has seating for 4 or more. The top floor also includes a subway tiled full bath with a skylight and two quaint and charming bedrooms with new mattresses for the most tranquil sleep. The larger bedroom features an inviting king-size bed, double closets with ample space, and an antique writing desk; the smaller bedroom has two comfortable twin-size beds, a closet, and another antique secretary desk. All of our vintage and antique decor has been lovingly curated to showcase our unique and personal style (which we know you will enjoy as well!) Downstairs we have a cozy family room complete with a brand new 55” smart TV, DVD player, lots of family games (including Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, Scattergories, Scrabble, etc.), kid’s toys and puzzles, and classic books including beautiful art and children’s books. For a bit of nostalgia, we have a classic diner-style booth which houses a small vintage radio/jukebox tape player! Our family room also includes a full bath with a rustic sliding barn door and an additional room for laundry, which you are welcome to use! Outside you can chill out on one of our two custom-built decks, fall in love with the local wildlife including majestic deer and sweet chipmunks, listen to the woodpeckers and hummingbirds buzz, relish in the stunning, natural foliage from ferns, oaks, or pines, or enjoy the soothing, crackling fire pit. You can also BBQ, delight below the magical night sky, take a long reset nap on one of our two comfy lounge chairs or swinging hammock, or roast yummy marshmallows in our fire pit in the cascading front yard. For kids, we have a fun sandbox with toys, a little playhouse with a toy kitchen as well as other outdoor activities including badminton, bikes for kids, a sprinkler, a small plastic pool (and more) in the shed. There is pretty much something for everyone! You will have access to the entire house (minus the storage room, unless you are doing laundry), and all 7 beautiful acres of our land. We also have a private road that you can walk up to enjoy all nature has to offer. When there’s heavy rain, there’s a beautiful little marsh you can sit near and meditate in seclusion. Although I will be away at my own home, I am just a text or phone call away! Please message me with any questions you may have, and I will respond ASAP. During your stay I will check in with you after your arrival, and before you leave to make sure your getaway is as seamless and amazing as possible. A few minutes to town to enjoy food, parks, lakes, farmer’s markets, hiking and so much more. 8 minutes to the Delaware River for fishing, swimming, boating, rowing, and canoeing. Overlooking the river for epic scenic views is Hawk's Nest Road- a fantastic, winding piece of asphalt, part of the New York’s Route 97. For a more specific list of our favorite places to hike and eat in both Yulan and Barryville, please see our guidebook. We are also close to the historic site of Woodstock, Bethel Woods, which hosts weekly musical events, and the beautiful spa and lodge at Woodloch in PA. Nearby Shohola Falls boasts numerous cascades, deep holes, and steep ledges where water rushes over a final set of falls onto the flatland. An absolute must-see! Our home benefits from being nestled between the Catskills in New York, and the Pocono region in Pennsylvania. In every direction, there is something fun to enjoy or something beautiful to see. We share this region with the charming towns of Narrowsburg, Callicoon, and Milford. Check out Narrowsburg for its thriving art scene, great coffee, and fantastic restaurants! Driving is much easier than any other form of transportation. Its a 2 hour drive from NYC (not considering normal traffic) and around 1.5 hours from NJ. Get a car with all wheel drive, especially during the winter months. We offer one light continental breakfast which includes (but is not limited to) bagels, muffins, a variety of fresh fruit, granola bars, coffee, tea, juice, and milk. Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions. We do not give refunds due to weather-related conditions. Please keep in mind trash is carry-in/carry-out. You can drop off your trash at: Highland Transfer Station 475 State Route 55, Eldred, NY OPEN: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, 7:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. There is a small fee per bag. Lastly, our home is surrounded by forest. This means Mother Nature’s critters are abundant and sometimes they decide to book a room. While they are evicted once found out, they sometimes are hard to keep out. If mice, bees, wasps, spiders, and just anything crawly upsets you, this is not the place for you.
