The Guesthouse at Downey Family Farm

Cozy yet spacious renovated log-cabin on our small farm in Maryland's picturesque countryside. Enjoy a relaxing stay in the country, where you can get to know the farm animals and enjoy eating outdoors under the pavilion. Large bedrooms, great Wi-fi and and fully-equipped kitchen make this a great place to go to get a break even if work and virtual school must continue. The Guesthouse is conveniently located with easy access to I-795, and is 35 minutes from downtown Baltimore. In addition to the entire furnished home, guests will have a large flat grassy yard to enjoy, along with a pavilion with outdoor seating and tables. We’re also happy to show guests around the entire farm, and introduce them to our livestock, which includes Texas Longhorn cattle, goats, pigs, rabbits, and other seasonal stock like chickens, turkeys, and sheep. Guests have access to the entire house, the backyard, and private driveway. Guests do NOT have access to the garage or the animal areas unless escorted by one of the hosts, which we are more than willing to do. All the animals are friendly and can be petted at the fence. We live right next door and while we offer contact-free check-in and check-out, we would love the opportunity to show our guests around the farm during their stay if they are interested. Let’s take a walk around the farm and introduce you to the cattle, the pigs, the goats, and everyone's favorite farm dog Everest. Downey Family Farm is located in the tiny rural community of Boring. We are surrounded by rolling hills covered with farms, and are a short country road drive from some of the country’s most pristine horse farms. We are also conveniently located 20 minutes from Hunt Valley, Westminster, and Eldersburg/Sykesville, and only 30 minutes from Baltimore which provides easy access to plenty of restaurants, shopping, and sight-seeing. You will need a car to get around. There is ample parking for two or more vehicles in the private driveway. We are just over 30 minutes from BWI and 15 minutes from the Owings Mills metro station. We cherish the rural setting of our farm. The main farmhouse where the landlords reside is just a few feet away from the Guesthouse. In this rural setting, the train passes by two times a day, the cows moo and the goats bey, the livestock dog barks at a sneaky fox. While we have come to love these sounds, we understand that they may be very foreign to others. There are white noise machines in each bedroom and earplugs in the bathroom closet if you should need them. We do have excellent Wi-Fi. Guests have worked and attended online school from the guesthouse with no problems.
