More than hotel, less than apt. I modeled Studio on my apts in Paris and Vienna. Fully stocked Kitchenette. Comfortable little bolt hole to rest, recharge. 1 mile to campus. Easy walk, bike ride, drive to Memorial, downtown SB. TWO NIGHT MINIMUM HOME GAMES GRADUATION range of $450 to $750, regardless of normal nightly rate. Includes: airport or campus shuttle, breakfast, usually a great tailgate. IF YOU BOOK FOR 1 NIGHT, THE COST IS THE SAME AS TWO, AND THE CANCELLATION PENALTY IS YOURS. The Studio is a little oasis, a bolt hole, as my Maman, would say. Clean walk in shower, with good lighting. Ample closet space. Your own covered patio with Weber grill. XL Twin daybed, luxury linens, new pillow top mattress. Flat screen tv. Hi speed internet. Netflix. Prime. Fenced in yard. 1.6 miles to Notre Dame. 5 minutes to Memorial hospital, 10 minutes to St Joseph Regional, 30 minutes to Elkhart General. Small dogs welcome, or cat. $150 non refundable pet deposit. Proof of rabies, distemper, and kennel cough. Fenced yard. You are responsible to pick up poop every time. If the lawn guy has to do it is $50 every time he mows. Your pet must be inside when you are not home, and quiet. If your pet has separation anxiety please don’t book here. This is a duplex with another traveler on the other half who needs to rest too. The Studio is part BNB, part guesthouse. If you want the room cleaned every day, I will; otherwise, the towels and laundry will be dropped off at laundry service once a week. If you stay longer than a month, you are responsible for cleaning your home, housekeeper will come for $30 per visit. Fully stocked Kitchenette with microwave, electric skillet, crockpot, electric kettle, French press, Melitta, toaster. Large under cabinet fridge. All dishes. Tupperware. Lunch box. I stock fridge once a week with fruit, eggs, cereal, juice. I often offer to leave fresh baked goods, homemade soup, pasta. Cook nearly every day, hate waste, happy to share! I can grocery shop for you, or take you with me when I go. You can easily walk, umbrella provided. You can grab a bike with a lock. I drive to campus nearly every day, or another guest at Cajun Cottage does, catch a ride. Uber. Often, there is an old beat up Honda named Hester Sue, you can rent for cheap, if you drive a manual transmission. It is not perfect, but it is quiet, clean, comforting. I tried to anticipate needs. If you need something ask! Most of our guests are international post docs at ND, and lots of traveling nurses and interns. FOOTBALL BOOKINGS: $450 to $740 average range. Most games fabulous tailgate, ride to campus, airport shuttle included. I DONT START BOOKING FOOBALL UNTIL AUGUST 10 th. TWO NIGHT MINIMUM FOR FOOTBALL, GRADUATION, JPW. IF YOU TRY AND BOOK FOR ONE NIGHT THE CANCELLATION PENALTY IS YOURS. You have your space. You are also allowed access to large patio and firepit at Cajun Cottage, 3 blocks away. You have access to the full kitchen at Cajun Cottage, if you want to bake, or have a gathering for colleagues and friends. I cook a " family" dinner at Cajun Cottage once a week, as well as brunch on Sunday. We watch bad tv, or play a board game. Unwind from a busy week working and researching. Often dessert is around the firepit! I am as near or as far away as you need me to be. I made the Studio @ ND because I did not need all the space in the house. I also needed a boost financially, as I renovate the house. I have travelled and worked abroad for a much of my life. I am social, but introverted and quiet. I could not imagine having to deal with a roommate in my house, a stranger 24/7. The Studio is free standing, with its own entrance, covered porch, bbq, and gate that leads to the backyard. Admittedly, the backyard has not had any of my attention yet, and will not until next spring...the fence needs painting, but the lawn is green and mowed! You can come and go as you like. That said, I am a real Cajun girl, and a chef. I am naturally domestic. I am practical. I am knowledgable of travel in US and Europe. As a chef, I know most of the chefs and food places, and lots of the artists in the tri county area. I am a farm girl. I lived in Chicago for nearly 5 years, and go into the city about twice a month, weekly in winter. If you need me to stock the fridge with things you can toss in micro or grab and go, I can. If you want help with reservations, I can do that. I can pick you up at airport, or ND shuttle, get you to the Amtrack in Niles, or New BUffalo, or Michigan City. Send you to the farmers market, drop you off, or go with you. You can borrow my bike. I will give you meals ( for a little bit extra) if that is what you want, or snacks. You can sit on my front porch alone or with me, or sit on yours alone and quiet. It is up to you. I want you to be safe. I I want you to rest if that is what you need, or be stimulated and have fun, if that is what you need. I would like the Studio @ ND to be what I need when I travel: an oasis. Someplace to eat the food I bought at the market, make a pot of tea, heat a little soup, store my leftovers, and heat them up for later. Have a quiet drink, or even invite a new friend back. Watch a movie. Listen to music. I hate hotels. I prefer to help research and medical practicums students, people in transition have affordable housing all year, versus supplying football guests respite from football fun. I don’t book for football until Aug 1, to allow students time to be accepted into fall and spring research slots. If I book football in January, they have no chance. FOOTBALL GRADUATION 2 night MINIMUM $450 to $650, airport shuttle, ride to campus tailgate usually included. I love how green it is. I love that it is a mixed urban landscape: middle class people making changes for themselves and their families, and old couples ending theirs. It is right along the river. We have deer grazing on the lawn routinely, wild turkey a few times a year. It is breath taking to look out the lawn, or come around the corner and see a 5 point buck or a young doe on the lawn or in the street! In the past two years, as ND marches outward, the neighborhood is gentrifying. We have married grad students, teachers, nurses, factory workers, you name it. kids riding bikes, drawing on sidewalks, quietly ar play. Most days and nights it is just quiet and green. It is really well located. You can get to any point in the county in 15 minutes. You can reach the airport and the train station in 10, the toll road in 5 minutes. Chicago is 90 minutes from my front door; Lake Michigan Harbor Country, Amish country, are easy 20-40 minutes away. we have a transit system. it is 3 blocks from the house. I have no idea how that works, but I can call transpo for you if you need. I usually walk to store or take my old Schwinn. I drive. There is a both the AMtrak and the South Shore to get to New Buffalo and Michigan City or the Chicago. There is a shuttle that goes to both airports daily. TWO NIGHT MINIMUM FOR FOOTBALL WEEKEND, $450-650 regardless of usual monthly or daily rate. If you try and book it for other rate, the cancellation penalty is yours! I do not book for football weekend until August 1. The interns and students need time to get accepted and book affordable home for the semester. I will take fabulous care of you if you get to come for football at ND...but my priority is students and medical visitors. The STUDIO is close to the hospital. I have had three guests here who needed an oasis while they waited for loved ones at the ICU. Memorial is a trauma care hospital. Others with kids at cancer center NICU. made a lot of soup and packed a lot of carry in dinners for those folks, Including a surprise birthday cake, and apple turnovers once, to tempt a fussy palate. I am flexible and would like to help if you need me too. I had one guy stay and he was so sick for three days. I had to move him into my room, while I slept on the sofa, because the Studio was booked immediately when he was scheduled to check out. He was way too sick to travel. Sent him to my doctor, and poured homemade chicken soup down him until he could function again! I hemmed a dress for a girl auditioning at ND...typical kid, wait til the last minute to see if your stuff is ready for an important event! It got done, and we got her there. Took her for ice cream after to hear all about the audition. Her mother had her first cancer treatment and could not come. I regularly host long term interns. People doing research at ND. I am flexible, calm, practical. I can never talk to you, or make you tea and hear all about it. Whatever you need for your trip to be successful, and restful.
