The Space: Welcome to Travis Heights! This quiet, historic neighborhood located just south of Town Lake provides visitors a genuine South Austin experience. Our DCA built apartment sits under a canopy of pecan trees behind our original home on Travis Heights Boulevard. The property neighbors beautiful homes built as early as 1890 and others newly constructed and designed by reputable, local architects. Shortly after we moved in, we learned that our house was used in the 1993 film 'Dazed and Confused' by Richard Linklater. You can see the house best when Tony (Anthony Rapp) and Sabrina (Christin Hinojosa) are kissing goodbye (a tender moment) at the end of the film. The rooftop deck and laundry are shared spaces. Although they are rarely occupied by more than one guest. If you let us know in advance, we can reserve those spots for you. Seasonal Events like ACL, F1, and SXSW require a 3 night minimum rental. Also, please review the LONG-TERM STAY - ADDITIONAL FEES section below. Stays over 29 days are waived from paying the State and Local Hotel Tax. However, there are additional fees we need to collect for damage coverage and housekeeping. LONG TERM STAY - ADDITIONAL FEES FOR STAYS OVER 29 days. In compliance with our policies for long term stays, we need to collect a few additional fees from you before guaranteeing this reservation. Please see below and reply here with any questions. Your guest ambassador will reply shortly and be available to assist you where needed. Trust & Safety Fee: As part of our effort to help you relax and enjoy your stay, we have partnered with Safely.com to provide you with $1,500 of accidental coverage in place of a security deposit. A portion of the cost for this protection was included in your rental rate and fees and covers you for accidental damages during your stay. The Safely fee for nights over 30 days is $200, $50 of which was already collected. Please be on the lookout for a payment request or resolution request for the balance of $150 and ensure the balance gets paid and guarantee your reservation. NOTE: The Trust and Safety Fee is refundable only if the reservation is canceled in writing at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the arrival date. Additional Cleaning Fee: We do require additional cleaning fees for guests staying longer than 3 weeks. Your Guest Ambassador will coordinate the cleaning schedule for a minimum of once every 2 weeks. You can request cleanings more frequently if desired. Additional cleaning charges will be sent using a payment request or resolution request, immediately following the cleaning. Guest Access: The apartment will be unlocked and the key will be on the bar to the left as you walk in. We live in the front house and the property is very private and secure. Please follow the check-in instructions when provided. The Neighborhood: Known by locals as Austin's urban forest, Travis Heights is located just south of Downtown and just north of the 40-acre Blunn Creek Nature Preserve. Walk to SoCo or head down the private alley to Big Stacy Pool at any time of year. Getting Around: The neighborhood encourages walking and cycling with trail access and bike lanes to more than 20 miles of bustling central Austin. Guest can walk down our private alley to Big Stacy Pool. The Pool is open year round (heated in winter), offers free-admission and is complete with swimming lanes and a deep end suitable for diving. Other Things to Note: We believe in cleanliness. We ask all of our guests to remove their shoes prior to going inside. Please help us by honoring this request. Interaction with Guests: We live in a separate unit on the property which is located opposite the back yard and accessible via a private drive and entrance. We would be happy to assist with dining, entertainment and cultural event recommendations while you are staying with us.
