This charming Victorian home was originally built in 1913. Many guests say the vintage wallpaper and old wood trim reminds them of grandma's house. In fact a recent guest was delighted to discover upon check-in that this actually was her great-grandmother's house! Sometime between the First and Second World Wars it was divided into 3 apartments (one on each floor), and census records show many military members living here since that time. The previous owner was a Veteran and so is my husband. This listing is for two of the former apartments combined into one large unit: the Loft, which has a bird's-eye view of the water with its private Observation Deck, and the main floor of the house, including the sunroom. There is a second unit on site which is the basement granny suite apartment with walkout. Outdoor spaces (ground level deck, backyard, waterfront and dock) are shared). Shuttle available to Solitudes golf course (call them to arrange) Feel free to use the fishing gear in the shed, camp-fire tools, water toys, but please put everything back when you're done. If you need to borrow an item (firewood, charcoal) please replace it before check-out. Laundry: There's no laundry on site but several dry cleaners and laundromats nearby. See the Welcome Book for having your laundry picked up by our dry cleaners, and delivered back (there's a laundry pickup/dropoff in the carport). OUR CLEANING PROCESS We follow Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning and allow more time between bookings for this longer cleaning process, so we can no longer accommodate late check-outs or last minute extensions to your stay, unless you request an emergency through AirBnB directly. All hard surfaces will have disinfectant applied that is effective against SARS type viruses. We use an ozination sterilization machine in between guests for all the soft furnishings that can't be washed (sofas, curtains). Our linens, blankets, comforters, mattress pads, pillow covers and towels are sent out to be cleaned professionally at Troy Dry Cleaners. At our request, they use scent-free products. STOCKED LINENS/TOWELS:: The whole house comes stocked with face cloths, hand towels, and a minimum of 30 towels. (16 beach towels in summer) and extra linens/blankets/pillows for each of the 4 sofa beds. SPECIAL REQUESTS: We will do our best to accommodate unusual or special requests. Just drop us a line and let us know! We look forward to hosting you! All of main floor, sunroom, Loft, and the rooftop observation deck are exclusively for your use. The basement walk-out apartment is owner's suite and not for your use. Outdoor spaces are shared. We let our guests decide how much interaction they'd like. If you see us outside watering plants or tending the herb garden please don't be shy about coming out and saying hello! The home is in on a residential street, on the St. Clair river, just south of downtown Port Huron, the Bluewater International Bridge, and the Lake Huron beaches. We're one block from a hospital and close to the freeway connectors. It's the perfect spot to watch the annual boat races, sailboat races, or ending spot for the Port Huron annual Float Down the St. Clair River event. If you need a Vehicle Charging Station, there's a row at McLaren hospital SE corner parking lot. There's also a row under the Bluewater International Bridge, in Edison plaza across the parking lot from the Hilton Doubletree. There is a Tourist Trolley that runs for 10 cents in summer and it also stops at the beach. There is a public bus system and we're on Route 1. Look for instructions on taking the bus in our digital House Manual, the local GuideBook or Welcome Book in the house. Contact Solitudes Golf if you need a shuttle pick up. There's free street parking in the neighbourhood, but not overnight in winter. Check our House Manual or Welcome book for dates and times you can't park in winter. BY MAKING THIS RESERVATION YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING POLICIES & RULES: IMPORTANT This is a no-smoking, no-vaping property. CLEANING / DAMAGE DEPOSIT: If you're a repeat guest this deposit will be waived. Otherwise, we charge a refundable damage/cleaning deposit, which all, or a portion of, may be returned to you after your stay, depending on the condition you leave the property. Just like when you put a quarter into the grocery cart as an incentive to return it to its proper place, this deposit is incentive to leave our home tidy. See the House Rules for more information. The current deposit is $500 and must be paid before you'll be given the door code for entry. You may pay through the Airbnb platform using the Resolution Center. LONGER STAYS For every 2 week period we must be granted entry to : 1) change the linens and towels, clean the bathroom, and inspect for maintenance items. You can be present and it takes as long as it takes. 2) a 2 hour period to preventatively treat for bedbugs and other pests. No pets, people or plants can be in the home during this 2 hour treatment. PET FEE: There's an additional pet fee of $200. When you book, you must special request a pet stay so that the extra fee may be added to your reservation, and to let our cleaning staff know they may need extra cleaning time after your stay. You agree to follow the House Rules regarding pets (see House Rules section). Pet fee must be paid before check-in. SERVICE ANIMAL: While we would prefer a guest let us know if they are bringing a pet or service animal, in the interest of guest privacy, and Airbnb's Inclusion and NonDiscrimination Policies, unless you voluntarily disclose to us an animal is a pet prior to booking, and have paid the pet fee prior to your check-in, we will consider ALL animals as "service animals". You understand and agree that AirBnb handles claims for damages differently for service animals, and service animals must follow the same House Rules as pets.
