This lovely 1906 home is sure to please with the charm of yesterday but with amenities such as wifi, central air-conditioning, new mattresses, quality linens, and more. Newly tuned piano, lovely gardens, master bath w/shower & Jacuzzi. Hardwood floors, fireplace, leaded and stained glass windows add to the ambiance. Located in the Historic neighborhood of Hudson, Wisc. you can walk to quaint shops; great restaurants, historic Octagon House, and scenic St. Croix River. The original woodwork downstairs includes a beautiful open staircase, and pocket doors between rooms on the main level. On the 2nd floor there is good size desk with lighting that offers a nice working space. The front porch has comfortable furniture in covered area which can be enjoyed for 3 seasons. The back porch has a nice bench for a cup of coffee. The brick patio has a glass top table with 4 wrought iron chairs, and a baker's rack for food and beverage. Parking off-street in the back driveway gives privacy and ensures parking space. There is additional lawn furniture for enjoying the back yard and gardens. Sidewalks in the neigborhood provide easy walking along the tree-lined streets with many beautiful and interesting homes built in the early 1900's. The Octagon House Museum is 1 block away and open for tours most of the year, (go on-line for hours). The scenic St. Croix River is 2.5 blocks walk with a walking path, (once a railroad track - located at the end of St. Croix Street when you turn West, - left, from 4th Street). Follow the path south to Lakefront Park, and the old toll bridge - which is now a "dike" and used for walking. Guests have the entire home to themselves. We only allow up to 5 guests and no events. We will be working in the gardens, (watering and weeding), and maintaining the lawn and landscaping - but will always coordinate the time we will be there with our guests so they have the privacy they want and can enjoy the outdoor space too. There is always a family member or close friend available to answer a question or solve any problem with the home while guests are staying at 1111 4th Street. A list of people is provided upon check-in. The neighborhood is quiet most of the time, and most of the homes were built in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Mature trees and gardens are throughout the historic small city of Hudson. The people are nice and neighbors quiet. There is an elementary school across the street on 4th Street that has children playing in the playground during school hours and sometimes in the evenings and weekends - but generally it is quite in the evenings and on weekends, and in the summer months.
