NO ELECTRICITY OR RUNNING WATER. THIS OFF-GRID Cabin is accessed by foot only. Parking is provided on-site at Maple Fork Lodge, but it is a 300-meter walk to the cabin. The walk can be tricky. Our caretaker can assist with moving your luggage to the cabin if you arrange for it ahead of time. This cabin has no electricity or internet, but battery-powered lanterns are provided, as are mattresses, cooking utensils, gas for the stove and barbeque and drinking water. Part of Maple Fork Lodge - 80 acres that backs up to thousands of acres of wilderness. Hike and explore to your heart's content. Swim and fish in the 1-acre pond. Read a book. There is a small propane heater to keep the cabin toasty. LINENS can be provided for a small extra fee of $6 per stay, otherwise, bring your own linens or sleeping bag. Secure parking is provided just off the paved road. Guests access the cabin via a footpath that follows the fenceline around the ponds. Guests will have full use of the cabin and the area immediately surrounding it (the 4-acre meadow is all yours) and will have use of the 1-acre pond in front of the cabin for fishing and swimming. Please do not enter the grounds of the lodge or the farmyard, where there are animals. Hiking is available on the mountain behind the cabin via a trail at the back of the meadow. Our caretaker, Richard lives on the grounds (out by the road) and can assist in answering any questions you may have. The cabin is 11 miles from the New River Gorge - with rafting, climbing, hiking and more. Beckley is only a few miles away with shopping etc. The road leading to the cabin (lansing street) has many run-down house trailers. Don't worry, once you get to the lodge they won't be visible. The address is actually on LANDSING street, not Craddock road. A glitch in some mapping software changes the name. Parking is provided, and laundry services are available for longer stays at a small charge. Bedding is not automatically provided, but can be included for an additional $6 fee per stay. There are two single beds that push together to form a double with a nice cushy mattress topper. Please let us know before you arrive which arrangement you prefer. Bring sleeping bags and pillows or your own bedding. There are dishes and cutlery in the cabin, along with a small cook stove with gas. Heating, in season is provided by a small propane heater. The cabin is insulated.
