Be our guest in the handsome “Chez Bird Dog” apartment featured on HGTV Home Town, Season 4! Sleep on the now famous Queen size “Murphy Bed” custom built by Ben Napier. Enjoy the graceful hues and design Erin chose for the apartment wing of Bird Dog Cafe. You’ll be in the midst of local action as you get to visit with friends, new and old, at the adjacent Bird Dog Cafe. Our overnight guests are treated to their own designated parking and a separate entry to the snug, restful apartment. If you can imagine a space being brand new and old simultaneously, you can imagine “Chez Bird Dog”. Ben & Erin Napier, and the Home Town crew, transformed this Circa 1905 house. They brought it from sad and decaying to the dapper Bird Dog Cafe & the intimate and adjacent “Chez Bird Dog” apartment. The apartment space remains full of its original ‘old’ historic charm. The 11 foot ceilings and subdued tones definitely remind you that you’re lodging in a piece of Laurel, Mississippi history. The ‘new’ in this graceful space becomes obvious when you enter. Sporting sparkling new appliances, an all-new bathroom, and central heat and air, “Chez Bird Dog” is contemporary where it matters most, comfort! Guests are welcome to enjoy the outdoor deck and porches of the Bird Dog Cafe during and after business hours. Besides, you can roam the green space on the property and help yourself to outdoor games, like our vintage Croquet. Chez Bird Dog, as well as the Bird Dog Cafe, is a family business. I refer to myself as “Mama Bell”, and I host the Airbnb. My sons, Chef Elliot Bell and Connor Bell are the proprietors of Bird Dog Cafe. We are traditionally on the property, or very nearby, most days. We love to engage with guests and share our love of the city of Laurel, and the state of Mississippi. We also recognize and honor our guest’s privacy. The Bell family loves old southern homes, and we hit the jackpot on Short 7th Ave., Laurel, Ms. The Bell brothers proudly own two houses in Laurel’s Historic District. Our street is a sweet community of historic houses and small cottages, made into quaint businesses. Surrounded by shopping and salons, Bird Dog Cafe is within a few walking blocks of eateries, the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, Sawmill Mall, and beautiful parks. You’re likely to be captivated by the Oak-lined streets, and beautiful homes, some grand and others more modest, with front porches that say “welcome”!
