Private Guest Quarters on Bassett Estate

Located in the Ithaca Estate’s original butler’s quarters, this living area has a private entrance with breakfast nook, mini-fridge, and Keurig coffeemaker located on the first floor. The upstairs suite has a full-size bed, TV (w Netflix only), and private bathroom with restored original, clawfoot tub. The staircase up to the suite is tiny with a twist and no hand rail at the very bottom. There are uneven 100 year old sidewalks. This suite is not recommended for those with mobility issues. Located in the 100-year-old historic greek revival home originally built by one of the original founders of Bassett Furniture Company. Park in the guest space provided in front of the garage door furthest on the left side of the 3 car garage. This space is marked “guest parking”. When you exit your car please follow the walkway behind the house. The Guest Suite is the 3rd door on the backside of the house. There is a "Welcome" sign at the correct door. We will contact you before your stay to have you select your breakfast(s) and provide you with the door code. Just outside your private entrance is a fire-pit for your personal use. Also located on the property are (shared areas) a swimming pool, meditation garden, gazebo and chicken house. The hosts are often available for additional ideas or directions. However, in this pandemic guests should feel free to be completely contactless if they desire. Centrally located, within walking distance of river access located behind Smith River Outfitters for kayaking. A five-minute drive from restaurants, grocery stores, Bassett Historical Center, and Hamlett Vineyards. The Smith River is well known for fly fishing and kayaking. If you wish to reserve kayaks please contact them in advance to schedule! Our black lab mix (Bella) and golden retriever (Luna) will greet you at your car! They do not jump on people but do bark Loudly to announce your arrival. Bella will likely bring you a stick to throw for her to play fetch. She is obsessed.
