Open-concept, cozy feel, on spacious property, steps from our beautiful clean Lake. Private driveway. Surrounded by lawns, gardens, trees. Very suitable for 2 adults (& small child) or 4 g/f's for a getaway w/end. Prepare your own breakfasts & lunches & simple dinner in gallery kitchen, or on BBQ – mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, Panini maker. Roast marshmallows & hot dogs on the fire pit, enjoy quiet evenings around the fire. Eat, shop, golf, hike, walk & bike - close by. We are located on the West end of Chandos Lake on a private cottage road, which has 6 other cottages on it. Our place is only a 7-minute drive to the village of Apsley, located in the Heart of North Kawartha. We offer a very peaceful setting, tucked back in stately pine, cedar, oak and maple trees, overlooking a wide open space, just 250 feet from the waterfront. It makes for a perfect spot while visiting the area for a fishing tournament, wedding, family reunion, Studio Tour, business trip, or just for a simple relaxing re-charge weekend away from the kids with your spouse, girlfriends getaway, etc. Our place offers beauty for 2 wonderful Seasons each year. We consider Summer to be from Victoria weekend to Labour Day, followed by an always awesome colourful Fall, from Labour Day to the week before Thanksgiving. Guests are welcome to use any of the space around the Bunkie, explore the woods, play volleyball /badminton on the huge soft sand court, sit by a cozy Campfire at night (provided there is no Fire Bans on), sit on the decks around it for your morning coffee, afternoon tea or cocktails, fish and swim off the Dock. The water is plenty deep for diving off the end, and has a small sandy beach good for children at the other end. You basically are "on your own" in your own private area - wooded areas, green grass, Volleyball court, Fire pit, Dock at the water. That said, we are close by and readily accessible, if need be. A simple text or a knock on our door is all it takes to get ahold of us. Although we live on the property (just under 4 acres), you have your own privacy - the Bunkie is on one end of the property, and our cottage is on the opposite side. We are respectful & want you to have the BEST local experience possible; we are mindful that this is your vacation & will give you space to enjoy our outdoor property. By the Bunkie is the Firepit, large lawn & the Volleyball court. Our own cottage is located opposite all of that, separated by our large driveway. We are a 7-minute drive from the village of Apsley where you will find a Medical & Dental Clinic, Pharmacy, Service Station, Library, Gym, LCBO beer/wine/liquor, Saturday morning market, a couple of eclectic gift shops, and a few eateries. Unfortunately, our only grocery store burned totes ground Dec 2020 and at this point, has not been re-built. We are in close proximity to many areas to explore : Fishing in the Lake 9-hole Golf Courses (Just 7 minutes from Marvel Rapids GC; Owenbrook is 20 mins away, as is Woodview) Many great 18-hole GC's in nearby Peterborough (1 hr South) & Bancroft (45 minutes North) areas Public Beach Hiking trails & Mountain biking in Silent Lake Provincial Park and the Petroglyphs Provincial Park Apsley area Fall Studio Tour (showcasing local artisan talent) Interior Camping & Canoeing in Kawartha Lakes Provincial Park Many great events that Guests are welcome to attend, hosted by the Lake Association, including a Canoe & Kayak Day (May), Kids Fishing Derby (July), Sailing Races (all summer long), Regatta & spectacular Fireworks (August) Corn & Weiner Roast (September) Boat/sea doo rentals are available at local marinas (Please Note : some of these services may not be available under the current Cover-19 situation). We are mid-way (approximately 45 minutes) between Bancroft (North of us) - the Gem Capital of Canada - and the city of Peterborough, South of us. The village of Apsley, only 10 minutes away has a Pharmacy, Gas Station, Gym, Medical & Dental Clinic, Library, LCBO and a Saturday morning market. Sadly, Apsley's only Grocery store was destroyed by fire in December 2020. Plans to re-build are underway, but completion is not anticipated in the near future. With the onset of Covid in March 2020, we chose not to operate our AirBnB, but with knowing more about the Pandemic now, and taking the necessary steps and following safety and cleaning protocols, we are looking forward to getting back to welcoming and hosting guests again. We are Seasonal, roughly from after the Victoria Day weekend in May through to just before Thanksgiving. If you are bringing your own Kayak / Canoe / Boat, you are responsible for your own safety. Wearing Life jackets at all times when using watercraft is recommended. Campfires MUST be small and controlled for everyone's safety. North Kawartha has a "no daytime burning rule"; restricted until 6pm. Strictly enforced. Campfires must be totally extinguished at the end of each evening, with the hose provided.
