Monte Vista is the perfect basecamp for adventures across the San Luis Valley! 45 minutes from the Sand Dunes, 60 minutes from skiing at Wolf Creek, 45 minutes from fly-fishing on the Rio Grande, 30 minutes from mountain biking at Penitente Canyon, 10 minutes from mountain biking and trail running at Limekiln/Stone Quarry, 10 minutes from sandhill crane gazing at Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge, and just a short walk to the shops and restaurants downtown. Guests are free to utilize the downstairs of the house. Take your meals at the kitchen island, or dining table, or on the deck in the summer. Come 5 o'clock in the summer, the deck and patio is a shady paradise. In the chill of autumn, throw a log on the firepit. If you get dirty on the trails, feel free to throw in a load of laundry. I live here! These days, I work from home during the week and am often out exploring on the weekends. If I'm here, I'll probably offer up breakfast in the morning (I make a mean breakfast sandwich and peaches and cream oatmeal) and might crack a bottle of wine on the deck on the weekends. A new addition! The pup you see in the photos is Merle. I adopted him recently and he is a sweet boy who enjoys the sun and belly rubs. I’m open to pets, but we need to discuss first.
