The latest creation by Kathy Kane in memory of her Mother, Shirley Rhoads. This off grid tiny cabin is in process but can be enjoyed now. The solar panels are hooked up for minimal dc usage. The rainwater catch tank is filling up. The composting toilet is in. Propane runs small refrigerator and hot showers. This is a way off life not meant for everyone, but everyone should try it. Privacy, nature and the sound of the rushing creek will sooth the soul. Enjoy the small working farm. A radical way of life and on a lively creek. In the valley below Craggy Gardens section on The Blue Ridge Parkway, water from 5000 feet flows to the little Ivy creek. It can be gentle or raging. It is thrilling either way but can be dangerous. Caution must be top priority. Cabin is the the 500 year flood plane. The creek is stocked with trout and has other varieties of fish for fly casters. Rock hounds, Bird lovers, tree huggers, hikers, bikers and the campfire kings. You have roughly a 1/2 acre to yourself. But enjoy the whole farm. The creek is a stone's throw away. There is 1500 feet of it that I own. Fish, float or just enjoy. Visit with Rex and Flo, the pygmy goats. say hey to the cows but please don't feed them. Please do not cut bamboo. I'll have to interact with you! At least to show you how things work. I'm making a book about how things work. Eventually everything will be fine tuned but that can take years. I'm a 5 star hostess for "Kathy's Place". But when COVID-19 hit in the spring of 2020, I was advised to close "Kathy's Place"down. The home that hundreds adored is now rented by Stan Sutrich of Orange Mountain Photography. Meet his doggie, Ripley, Great White Pyrenees. But we will leave you alone. No worries. Located near The Pisgah National Forest, you are in the county in the Blue Ridge Mountains. But not totally isolated with easy access by vehicle. This is farming territory. Years ago tobacco was the main crop. Now cows, goats, tomatoes, peppers, corn, hemp, pumpkins and more. 5 acres of my land is leased by hemp growers who intend to add honey bees next year. With the pandemic, we are becoming more self sustaining. So don't be surprised if you find yourself behind a tractor going down the road. Be nice, he might be your neighbor. If you don't know what you are doing, don't do it! Ask first. I don't provide bedding due to Coid-19 recommend bringing sleeping bags, pillows and a urinal if you don't want to climb down the ladder in the middle of the night.
