Palomar Mountain Cabin in the Trees

Enjoy the quiet serenity of our retro cabin in the trees. Located right at the top of Palomar Mountain and within a beautiful forest of Oak, Spruce and Cedar. Our "Colors of Retro" theme allows you to absorb a new color in each space. From the red kitchen to the blue living room and on to the purple reading room, you'll get a new experience with every room you enter. Palomar Mountain is a hidden gem that is so close to San Diego but feels so far away. Everything in this mountain retreat in the trees is designed around letting you relax and enjoy your stay. From the comfortable furniture, to memory foam mattresses, to the clawfoot tub, you wont have a tough time unwinding. Our soft white sheets and towels are professionally cleaned by Freshly Folded Laundry delivery service with each new guest so that you can be sure you have clean linens for your stay. There are so many reasons to come up and stay on the mountain but here are a few of our favorites : Fireplace Stove Sitting on the couch with a good book, a cozy blanket and a crackling fire in the stove. Our antique cast iron stove sits inside the fireplace to warm the room. Plenty of wood available for an absolutely sublime evening. Patio and Fire Pit Nothing beats a good campfire. Well, except an outdoor fire pit on a big beautiful deck under the trees with nice chairs to sit in. Take the time for yourselves and let at least one evenings entertainment be around the fire. A Bath Talk about something you never do at home! Now is your chance. Enjoy a warm bath in our clawfoot bathtub and read a book, watch a movie on your ipad, or how about (Website hidden by Airbnb) nothing at all but relax! Piano Made for playing. We loved decorating our fun piano with its inviting style so that everyone would feel welcome to play it. Its not fancy, its fun! It’s there to play so don’t hesitate to tickle the ivories if you are so inclined. Ok for kids to play as well. That’s what it’s there for. Disconnecting! No cable or cellular providers service the mountain and the only chance of getting satellite would require us to cut down the trees around our cabin to get a direct “line of site” to the satellite. #Lame That would defeat the purpose of being a cabin the trees. :) It might sound like a bad thing but we find its really pretty great. Please enjoy the serenity of being “Disconnected” during your stay. You might find you like it as much as we do. It’s nice to unwind once and awhile. Please download any music, movies or shows you would like to enjoy before you come or enjoy our selection of DVD movies at the cabin for your use. Parks and Hiking Trails There are two state parks on top of the mountain and both are within a couple of miles of our cabin. For a great day, take your bikes and ride on over to the parks to enjoy nature and the spectacular views. From the state parks there are miles of hiking trails from beginner to advanced. Please see general maps in the house book. Lakes At the bottom of the East Grade, and a delightful 15 mile country drive away, you will see beautiful Lake Henshaw. A favorite of San Diego Fishermen. A great place for a walk near the water. There are a couple restaurants there as well for nice lunch. Julian World Famous Julian is about a 35-40 drive away past Lake Henshaw and along more scenic country roads. You can enjoy this small town full of rustic charm and all the fresh Apple Pie you can eat.
