Quiet Retreat; Barker Pond Farm Cabin, LLC: Spruce
Barker Pond Farm Cabins, built in 2010 feature modern amenities including a full bath and kitchen, outfitted with towels, linens and cookware. Each cabin sleeps 4 people, with a queen sized bedroom and a 2 twin sleeping loft, accessed by a ship's ladder. A screened in porch is the perfect place to sit and listen to our resident loons. We offer 2 identical cabins for rent; Spruce, listed here, and Pine, which can be found under Barker Pond Farm Cabins; Pine. Barker Pond Farm Cabins are nestled into the shores of quiet Barker Pond, a 100 hundred acre pond surrounded by forested hills, with 2,000' of private frontage. Barker Pond Farm is 135 acres of owner-managed forest, pasture and organic gardens, all on a homesteading scale. There are hiking trails to explore, fish to catch, boats to paddle, birds to watch and good swimming. A pond side fire pit is a great place to end the day with stories, songs and s'mores. Spruce cabin will be open all winter this year. Come enjoy cross country skiing, skating, sliding, and ice fishing, all out your front door, weather depending, of course. Check out Barker Pond Farm Cabins on FB for weather and snow conditions updates. We are available part of most days. Our property is off the beaten track, but easily accessible to a small town variety store. We are 45 minutes from Sugarloaf Mt., a great hiking and skiing area, 2 hours from Acadia National Park, a treasure of beauty for hiking and biking, 20 minutes from Skowhegan, where you can find most essential supplies, restaurants and various entertainments. We are a rural community, and have no public transportation. Due to water line issues that cannot be resolved until spring, Spruce cabin will be closed for the rest of the winter. We will be open in May, and are currently taking reservations for the spring and summer season.
