A private historic cabin (circa 1873) featuring a stone wood-burning fireplace, 150-year-old hand-hewn wooden beams and a sunken two-person soaking tub. Amenities also include a basic kitchen nook with mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker as well as a smart TV, standard cable, DVD player, communal DVD/book library, Bluetooth speaker, and access to free Wi-Fi. The Osceola Mill is an 1800s Shenandoah Valley water-powered flour mill converted into a rustic restaurant and inn. The Osceola Mill (Circa 1849), originally a Shenandoah Valley water-powered flour mill, has since been converted into a rustic country inn and restaurant hosting travelers from all over the world for almost 50 years. Built in 1873, the "Mill Store Cabin" originally functioned as the store where the miller sold his stone-ground goods to the local community. After the Osceola Mill's retirement as a functional mill in 1969 due to hurricane Camille, the mill store was converted into a private residence which was eventually rented out to travelers when the mill became a country inn a few years later. The most prominent feature of the "Mill Store Cabin" is by far its original massive stone chimney inlaid with one of the original millstones. Fire up some logs in its stone wood-burning fireplace, draw a bath in the cabin's two-person soaking tub, crack open a bottle of wine, and unwind. Bask in the nearly 150 year-old hand-hewn wooden beams and antique wooden interior structures. Combined with a recently updated modern country flare, the cabin creates the perfect rustic ambience for your rural retreat. The cabin is equipped with a basic kitchen nook including a mini-fridge, microwave, hot/cold water dispenser, and coffee maker. Amenities also include a private bathroom, two person soaking tub, smart TV (with Netflix), standard cable, DVD player, communal DVD/book library, Bluetooth speaker, and access to free Wi-Fi. Furnished with a queen bed, this cabin has a max occupancy of two persons. We do not allow any visitors or unregistered guests in the cabin or on the premises at any time. (Website hidden by Airbnb) We do allow dogs in the cabin for an additional pet fee of $30 (per dog per night). Any PETS staying in the cabin must be pre-approved and all pet fees must be paid prior to check-in. We have a two dog maximum. No pets other than dogs allowed. If you would like to include your furry friend(s) during your stay please call or email us (contact info on our website - (Website hidden by Airbnb) to arrange approval and payment. We require a credit card on file (matching the ID of the booking party) to approve pets in the cabin. (Website hidden by Airbnb) To help us create the best experience for all our patrons, all lodging guests must be 18 years of AGE or older. Please keep in mind this is generally a couples getaway destination and we are trying to create the perfect romantic retreat. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Dining, alcohol and other PAID AMENITIES are not included with Airbnb reservations as we cannot process additional items or packages through the Airbnb platform. If you are interested in our "Bed & Breakfast'' package or any additional amenities beyond lodging please view details on our website ( (Website hidden by Airbnb) If you choose to book through Airbnb, please call or email us to reserve and pay for your breakfast, package or other paid amenity. As we require advanced notice to arrange breakfast, we do not allow breakfast to be purchased during or after check-in unless you are staying multiple nights and we have 24-hour notice. Thank you for your consideration. (Website hidden by Airbnb) We offer full-service DINING in the Osceola Mill Restaurant located on the main floor of the mill house. In addition to food, we offer a curated selection of all local Virginia wine, beer and cider. Outdoor covered patio seating is also available on the front porch of the mill house (weather permitting). Walk-ins are welcome during public dining hours (lunch, dinner and brunch) however we highly recommend making a reservation to guarantee table availability. Dining hours are as follows: BREAKFAST — By Reservation Only LUNCH — Saturdays @ 11AM - 3PM DINNER — Tue - Sat @ 5PM - 9PM BRUNCH — Sundays @ 10AM - 2PM We have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available. To guarantee we can accommodate you, please submit any allergies or dietary restrictions when booking your reservation. (Website hidden by Airbnb) We are very excited to be hosting LIVE MUSIC every Saturday night (6:30PM - 8:30PM) during dinner and Sunday (10AM - 2PM) during brunch throughout all of September and October. You can view the lineup on our website ( (Website hidden by Airbnb) We highly recommend calling or emailing (contact info on our website) to reserve a table as live music is one of our most popular attractions for the restaurant. (Website hidden by Airbnb) We have PARKING available directly in front of the mill house (in front of the sign) where you can easily unload and access your room. We also have additional parking on the far end of the property with easy to follow signage. (Website hidden by Airbnb) We offer SELF CHECK-IN for all lodging options at the Osceola Mill. The front door to the mill house is never locked (sometimes it sticks - just give it a slight nudge). Just in case however, a guest access code will be provided after your booking confirmation. Upon arrival you will find your personal welcome packet (with your name on it) taped to the front door of the mill house. The key to your room and all pertinent info related to your stay will be inside your welcome packet. While we offer self check-in by standard, someone will usually be on site to greet you, if not though come on in! (Website hidden by Airbnb) CHECK-IN is available from 3PM until 9PM. If you need to check in after 9PM, please follow self check-in procedures as there may be no staff on site. We do not offer check-in before 3PM to allow our staff adequate time to prepare your room for your stay. If you arrive early though, you're welcome to relax on the porch and take in the beautiful scenery! (Website hidden by Airbnb) SMOKING is strictly prohibited inside the mill house, inside the cabin, or on any of our porches/patios. Designated outdoor smoking areas are available. (Website hidden by Airbnb) The Osceola Mill is LOCATED 2.5 miles (7 minutes) from the I-81 highway, accessible via well-mainted state roads. Coming from I-81 simply get off at exit 205 and take VA-606 (Raphine Rd) toward US-11 (towards Steeles Tavern). Once you reach US-11, turn left to head north and almost immediately turn right onto VA-56 (Tye River Tpke). In just under a mile, the mill will be on your right. (Website hidden by Airbnb) While easily accessible, this is still the Virginia countryside. The WEATHER is quite unpredictable and winding country roads can be quite hazardous even given the best of conditions. Please drive carefully. Please also keep in mind in months where snow is a concern all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended even though the roads are plowed daily by the state. Winter weather will make for a wonderful ambiance during your stay, but is most enjoyable when prepared for. We do not offer weather-related refunds so please prepare for the worst! (Website hidden by Airbnb) We are in the process of getting high-speed fiber optic INTERNET installed at the Osceola Mill. At the moment however, we have limited internet bandwidth due to our rural location. Please keep in mind there is only so much streaming our fragile bandwidth can handle and storms generally "knock out" the internet. This is a good time to disconnect and take some time away from all the normal hussle and bussle! If you do need to connect though, info to access our free WiFi will be included in your welcome packet. We also have standard cable television available in every room via Dish Network. One other note, cellular service is fairly limited if not non-existent for most carriers in our little nook. You may have to drive a couple minutes up the road to get service. You may also request to use the mill's landline. Just another wonderful excuse to fully enjoy the moment during your getaway! (Website hidden by Airbnb) For our full list of policies, dining menu, upcoming events and more info about the mill, please visit our website: (Website hidden by Airbnb) Guests at the Osceola Mill have access to all the common areas inside the historic mill house (dining room, foyer, library, etc.) as well as our covered creekside patio. You are also welcome to explore along the creek and around the outdoor areas of the historic property. The mill's massive Fritz water wheel originally constructed in 1849 is a truly magnificent sight to behold. All guests will have access to dining in the Osceola Mill Restaurant during public dining hours (lunch, dinner and brunch). Breakfast is by reservation only. Public dining hours and full menu available on our website ( (Website hidden by Airbnb) We have free parking available directly in front of the mill house (in front of the sign) where you can easily unload and access your room. We also have additional free parking on the far end of the property with easy to follow signage. We request abled guests use the far parking lot to allow and elderly and disabled guests easy access. Thank you for your consideration. We ask that any disabled guests for both dining and lodging call or email us (contact info on our website - (Website hidden by Airbnb) to properly arrange for easy access. This is a historic building, therefore accessibility amenities are quite limited. That being said however, we have wheelchair parking/accessibility for the restaurant via the back entrance of the mill through the kitchen. The only lodging option with wheelchair ramp access is the cabin, since all four of the suites on the second floor of the mill house require climbing a single flight of stairs. While we offer self check-in, one of the innkeepers (Sandra & Jacob) will most likely be on site to greet you. We also usually have someone on site (during business hours) who will be able to assist you during your stay. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or requests! The Osceola Mill is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley only minutes from some of the most gorgeous sites in the area. Whether you are looking for an outdoor adventure, a scenic drive or a leisurely day at a winery, you'll find it here. Visit Crabtree Falls, the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi (20 minutes away). Or enjoy the thrill of cliff diving into crystal-clear waters at St. Mary's Falls (just 7 minutes away). Up for a trek? Hike one of the many trails just a short drive from the mill, including (but not limited to!) the Appalachian Trail, Slacks Trail, Spy Rock, Three Ridges and Priest Wilderness (all less than 30 minutes away). Down for a more relaxing retreat? Take a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway (10 minutes away) and soak in the fantastic mountain views. We can't recommend highly enough stopping at one of the parkway's many scenic overlooks for a romantic sunset picnic. Trying to enjoy the local "culture"? Our little nook of the Shenandoah Valley has some of the finest vineyards, breweries and cideries in Virginia. Guest favorites (to name only a couple) include Rockbridge Vineyard & Brewery (just 8 minutes away) and Devils Backbone Brewing Company (18 minutes away). If you are willing to travel a little further out, or if you're just passing through, we highly recommend taking a visit to Natural Bridge and Natural Bridge Caverns just half an hour south of the mill on I-81. Being in the rural Virginia countryside, there's plenty of other outdoor activities and excursions you can plan for your getaway. Take an off-road adventure on the Big Levels 4x4 Trail (17 minutes away). Take to the waters and enjoy a relaxing day paddling or tubing down the James River or Shenandoah River. Or simply take a day exploring nearby historic Staunton (25 minutes north) or Lexington (25 minutes south), two of Virginia’s most gorgeous and happening downtown areas here in the Shenandoah Valley. Be sure to check out the other historic sites in the area too! Wades Mill, the only other remaining (and functioning!) McCormick Farm mill is only a few minutes down the road. There are also many historic museums, houses and libraries in and around Staunton/Lexington dedicated to the influential figures who called this nook of the valley their home, including Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and Woodrow Wilson (to name a few). Due to our rural location in the Shenandoah Valley, the only convenient mode of transportation is by car. Some adventurous guests choose to travel by bicycle as well. The Osceola Mill is located 2.5 miles (7 minutes) from the I-81 highway, accessible via well-mainted state roads.
