See the sun set on the Pacific from StarLoft. Nestled on 10 acres on Palomar Mountain in San Diego. This peaceful, private location surrounded by a majestic forest. Enjoy a barbeque or dinner on the deck or a hike on the miles of trails at the State Park, just minutes away. Great for a romantic getaway or a cozy place for a small family to stay. Kitchen and coffee bar fully stocked. When we have snow, you'll need a 4WD and sometimes chains are required Nov.-April depending on weather. StarLoft is the "guest house" on the property. Others may be staying in the main house during your stay. Please be respectful of others, and share the space graciously! :) StarLoft has it's own private balcony and fenced yard and feels quite separate from the main house, so guest interaction is not necessary. Palomar Mountain is a well-kept secret at 5800 feet elevation in San Diego County. We are very rural and you'll find the Loft location very quiet. It is a delightful escape for a workstation away from the cities. We are one hour from the nearest market so be sure to bring all your food with you. Our restaurant is closed for remodeling but you will find some camping supplies at our General Store. The nearest restaurant is at Lake Henshaw Resort about 20 minutes down the East Grade. Or travel 30 minutes down the South Grade to Jilberto fast Mexican Food, Lazy H Steak House or enjoy patio dining or their fireplace at El Rey, a delicious Mexican restaurant. Be sure to call for hours. Free parking at the General Store. On heavy snow days, there can be a LOT of tourists on weekends or holidays so you might choose to stay plan your visits for midweek. Miles of trails, Doane Pond, and Boucher Fire Lookout are waiting for you at the State Park. Presently there is a $10.00 entrance feel There is a farm to visit for fresh eggs, goat milk, cheese, yarn from her loom room or sometimes even homemade bread, right out of the oven. We also have a mountain coffee grinder that sells organic coffee. Both are a delight to visit with. Their phone numbers are provided to call for an appointment during your stay. Strong winds sometimes result in SDG&E shutting off power to the area. We do have a generator that can run the refrigerator, and a space heater, and a hot plate available for these occasions, but the stove, oven, and wifi may not be available when the generator is in use. We do not offer refunds for stays affected by power outages.
