Gallery House, curated by Smith & Vallee
Our first floor studio apartment offers the unique experience of staying overnight in the bustling village of Edison, in scenic Skagit Valley. Enjoy a private entrance and a beautifully landscaped yard. A perfect stay for cyclists, birders, creative retreaters, romantic get-aways, families, foodies, and road-trippers. Upstairs is the Smith & Vallee Guest House, a separate three bedroom, two bathroom living space. The yard is shared with upstairs guests. Check in Monday through Friday only. This space was designed and curated as an extension of the creative venues of Smith & Vallee Gallery and Smith & Vallee Cabinet Makers, our sister businesses established in Edison. Original artworks from our gallery’s artists hang on the walls. All cabinetry and woodwork was custom designed and built in our neighboring woodshop. Add modern furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen, an abundance of west-facing windows, and you’ve found an unforgettable vacation rental with breathtaking views. With an open concept layout, this space features a Murphy bed and sleeper sofa, perfect for a couple or small family. For larger parties, our upper unit, Smith & Vallee Guest House, sleeps six and can be rented as well for a total of 10 guests. This home is one of three units on the property. Expect ambient noise from the upper unit as this is a first floor living space with the inevitable sound of footsteps and movement from upstairs. The fenced yard creates a beautifully landscaped outdoor venue with waterfront vistas of the San Juan Islands. A common yard, shared with the upstairs guests, and fire pit is fenced-in for your privacy, steps away from restaurants, bakeries, a brewery, art galleries, and shopping - all within walking distance of our Guest House. Relax in the adirondacks by the fire and let the kids stretch their legs in the big yard. Self check-in is easy with the keypad on your door. We live and work here in Edison, and are available by phone if anything comes up during your stay. Also, visit us during business hours at our art gallery next door! Edison, WA, is a tiny town in the Skagit Valley, surrounded by farmland, Samish Bay, and the foothills of the North Cascades. Edison truly is a bend in the road, flanked by the Edison Slough, a tidal waterway that leads boaters to Samish Bay. Bookended between Terramar Brewstillery and Smith & Vallee Gallery, our end of town is the place to be for beer, pizza and art. Your upstairs neighbor is a separate AirBnB. The BreadFarm is open daily, the perfect stop for grabbing pastries and bread to go. Breakfast at Tweets, wine, spirits, sundries and delicious soups and sandwiches at Slough Food, lunch at Mariposas, two pubs and the Rhody Cafe just down the road for dinner leaves ample options for dining out. Perusing The Lucky Dumpster, Shop Curator and Hedgerow could take an entire afternoon! Some businesses are not open mid week, so be sure to check ahead before your stay. Everything in the village of Edison is within a 5 minute walk. The WA State Ferry system departs from Anacortes to the San Juan Islands, just a 20 minute drive from the Guest House. Chuckanut Drive winds north along the water from Edison, leading to Fairhaven and Bellingham. We are the half-way point between Vancouver, B.C. and Seattle. Bikers, birders, and kayakers have what they need right out our doorstep. To reserve additional space, our second and third floor Guest House sleeps 6 and is listed separately as 'Smith & Vallee Guest House in Edison, Washington' on airbnb. Next door is an adjoining studio that sleeps two and is listed separately as 'Edison Boat House, curated by Smith & Vallee' on airbnb.
