Gun Lake Campout

Welcome to Gun Lake! 30 Minutes from Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. Our 30 foot camper with deck on a large, private family, lot gives you lots of room to socially distance. Private dock, sandy swimming, boathouse full of floaties, paddle boards, kayaks, and canoe. Fire pit on the water. This has been a much-loved family retreat for over 100 years. We look forward to sharing it with you. The is a large lot at the end of a private drive. My aunt and uncle’s cottages are the neighbors and there is plenty of space between you and them. You are welcome to the entire property including the parking area, camper and deck, boat house and dock. These spaces are not shared with anyone. We will provide spray cleaner and paper towel to be used on all surfaces at anytime. There is a pod style coffee maker and coffee. We will also provide disposable paper products such as toilet paper, napkins, paper plates, plastic silverware, paper towel. Basic cooking supplies are in the camper kitchen. We have a pile of games under the couch, and the beginnings of a DVD collection. There is a Red Box at the grocery store for new movie DVD’s. The grocery store... head to the end of our road, turn right, go about 1.5 miles around the lake, turn left at the United Bank, the store is right there on the right. They do have a pharmacy at this store. Post office is down a little from the grocery store and on the other side of the road, as well as a dollar store. Bay Pointe is walking distance for a wedding or dinner. The Gun Lake Casino is a short drive to the northeast, about a 15 minutes. There are three golf courses just a few minutes away. Yankee Springs, Mullenhurst (closest), and Orchard Hills are all nice public courses. Yankee Springs has a super delicious steak house restaurant. Yankee Springs State Recreation Area is just a few miles away with miles of hiking trails. Check out the Devils Soup Bowl and Graves Hill for a good work out and a good view. Boat Launches Yankee Springs State Park, on the north side of the lake, has a large boat launch. You need a state park pass to use this launch. The county park by the grocery store has a smaller launch, pay a few dollars at the entrance to access the launch. Note this launch is on the very shallow west side of Gun Lake. Deep Lake Mountain Bike Trail If you’re a mountain biker you will love taking a break from the lake for a killer 10 mile ride. This trail is maintained and is one of the best in the state, it’s a challenging ride, with tough climbs and fast downhills. Due to current corona virus situation please bring your own sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels. All beds will have a clean waterproof mattress pad. Also note all interior surfaces of the camper will be sanitized between guests. Every effort will be made to let the camper air out for 24 hours between guests. No pets, no campers, no dirt bikes or ATV’s. There is a maximum of 4 guests at any time without prior approval due to the limited sewer. This camper does not have a full hook-up. Tub and shower should be used on a limited basis due to waste water holding capacity. Bring your own boat if you’d like. You will have to anchor it, the dock is not built for boats. Boat trailer can be parked on the lawn in the parking area.
